I have three children, 8, 4 and 18 months, boys and girls. They all love these stories. Boobela is a giant girl, eight years old. Her parents are away exploring the jungles for plant medicines and her grandmother has to go home to her grandfather leaving Boobela alone and lonely. She befriends worm and their unlikely friendship gives them both courage, strength and the ability to go on marvellous adventures.
As an adult I have to say that the writing style doesn't appeal. There are random plot holes and quirky sentence structures which drove me mad. The children didn't notice and wouldn't care. The illustrations are fantastic and they all love them.
The book is nicely laid out with three long stories and lots of little additions along the way. This is clearly the start of a series as the last story ends on a bit of a cliff hanger. The children are already clamouring for the next book.
