Product Description

Transform your thinking!

Is the way you think like the colour of your eyes – something you are born with and cannot alter?  Or is thinking a skill that can be improved with practice, like swimming, tennis or cooking?

In this practical book, Edward de Bono lays out some simple but powerful tools with which we can optimize our thinking, decision making and problem solving.  Most of the errors of thinking are errors of perception and that is precisely where these tools help.

Learn:

  • How to enhance your thinking processes by developing your perception
  • How to make the most of your thinking skills and how thinking differs from intelligence
  • How to make decisions, and deal with emotions and values whilst focusing on the future.

Edward de Bono, the inventor or the term ‘lateral thinking’, is widely believed to be the world’s leading authority on the direct teaching of thinking as a skill.  He is the author of over 60 books and his methods are widely used in many countries.  He advises multinational corporations and also works with educational bodies to enable individuals to maximize their thinking abilities.

From the Back Cover

Little attention is paid to the skill of thinking. There is a belief that information and intelligence are enough. Intelligence is like the horsepower of a car but thinking is the skill with which the car is driven. There are some highly intelligent people who are poor thinkers and some less intelligent people, who are better at thinking.

In this practical book, Edward de Bono lays out some simple but powerful tools with which we can optimise our thinking, decision making and problem solving. Most of the errors of thinking are errors of perception and that is precisely where these tools help.

Learn to think and take control of your life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very effective for improving thinking skills, 9 Oct 2000
By A Customer
I have read several books on various aspects of thinking skills by De Bono and others. Although I find De Bono's style a bit smug (especially in some of his other books), this is the most effective book I've found for improving useful thing skills, both creative and analytical.

It's thought provoking and fun to use. I first read the book about 10 years ago and, though I rarely use the thinking exercises in a formal way anymore, it has had a lasting and positive effect on my thinking ability.

In short, I strongly recommend this book

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Book, 17 April 2009
By Frances Coombes "Frances Coombes" (London, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)

I don't think any other person has written a book on thinking that is as powerful and enduring as this. In fact I hope to run a course at the City Lit London based on Do Bono's fantastic thinking course combined with NLP.

Lets not lose this type of thinking, although I fear it may be disappearing fast. TV comentators, ask were are all the : 'Where are all the innovative ideas to take us out of financial crisis. A decade of left-brain thinking has reduced many to tick box thinkers. We need to rediscover De Bono type thinking again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Showing its age, 18 Sep 2006

This book really deserves a better score, sadly it is showing its age in many places, and much of the material is wdiely available in any number of other books.

As a professional trainer in problem solving, there are still nuggets in here that are worth the entrance fee, but I would suggest that this book is aprt from that only useful as an introduction to the techniques for those that have little experienc e or knowledge
