Product Description
Stan and Ollie stowaway to Scotland expecting to inherit the MacLaurel estate. However Stan's inheritance amounts to a set of bagpipes and a snuff box. The boys are tricked into enlisting in the army and are posted to India where the heiress to the MacLaurel estate has moved to be near her guardian. Her Scottish sweetheart Allan also enlists. The boys are "volunteered" by the Sergeant (Finlayson) to impersonate officers at the palace of Mir Jutra and foil a plot to murder the officers by overturning several beehives

I was really pleased with the quality of the picture on this DVD. Some Laurel and Hardy films have awful picture quality but I was very impressed.The commentery was a mine full of information and the special features were really interesting, I would highly recommend this DVD to Laurel and Hardy and film fans.Bonnie Scotland [Region 2] [import]

Bonnie Scotland, the 1935 film that was so great - but wasnt releeased until now. When you turn on the dvd it comes up a language screen and press United Kingdom and it takes you straight to the home page. Play film, scenes and Bonus.
The print is like it has been done in modern years.
The bonus features are excellent - a commenatry, a trailer and 3 clips from 2 cameo appearances, Hollywood Party and The Hollywood revenue of 1929.
Would recommend to any fan.

Mclaurel and Hardy travel to scotland in this comedy classic. But much of the action takes place in British India. The film is from the Hal Roach studio and produced by Hal Roach and directed by James W. Horne. Laurel and Hardy were best in their short comedy films but this is one of the best longer adventures. There are plenty of laughs and a funny dance routine. The film also stars the familiar face of James Finlayson as the Sergeant Major.
This release was released Nov 2010 and is only one disc. This contains just the feature film only. This lasts 77 minutes approx.
The film of course is in black and white from 1935. There are no subtitles for any language or hard of hearing and there are no extras at all. The picture and sound are fair and ok. There doesnt seem to be any restoration.
The film still stands up as a great comedy from the greatest masters of classic comedy.
