Bones returns for a dramatic eighth season with more twists and turns than before. Bones is inspired by real-life forensic anthropologist and novelist Kathy Reichs. Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) is a highly skilled forensic anthropologist who works at the Jeffersonian Institute in Washington, D.C., and writes novels on the side. When the standard methods of identifying a body are useless (when the remains are so badly decomposed, burned or destroyed), law enforcement calls on Brennan for her uncanny ability to read clues left behind in the victim's bones. While most people can't handle Brennan's intelligence, her drive for the truth or the way she flings herself headlong into every investigation, Special agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) of the FBI's Homicide Investigations Unit is an exception. A former Army sniper, Booth mistrusts science and scientists--the "squints," as he calls them--who pore over the physical evidence of a crime. But even he cannot deny that the combination of his people-smarts and Brennan's scientific acumen makes them a formidable duo.

Season 8 shows no signs of flagging, the awesomely gifted laboratory team continuing to help solve murders no matter how squelchy the victims' remains. Whatever the state of the skull, Angela will reconstruct the face, husband Hodgins deducing much from any creatures wriggling inside. Quirky interns ("squinterns") offer much expertise, delightful Cam ensuring all runs smoothly.

Central as ever is Temperance Brennan - work obsessed, unswervingly rational, no people skills and hilariously humourless. (When Booth suggests Paris for a vacation, she is delighted - a chance to check out the sewers.)

Despite all the gore and certain issues most serious, the series is often very funny indeed. This perfect blend is surely the secret of its success (along with superb scripts and a fine cast). As ever Brennan and Agent Booth make a great team, the domestic interludes with daughter Christine a delightful addition. Also an increasing asset is "shrink" Sweet, he often giving valuable insights into a murderer's mind.

24 episodes. Perhaps one or two misfires. (Some may have doubts about Ep.9 where everything is seen from the corpse's point of view.) With particular impact is Ep.6. Squinterns are called in to solve cold cases. Initially they are competing, but one discovery unites all - the outcome very moving indeed.

Genuinely chilling is the ongoing storyline concerning psychopathic killer Christopher Pelant. Brilliantly hacking, altering evidence and spying on all, he is determined to make the team suffer. All are in danger. Are we soon to mourn the loss of one we like so much?

Some may find the music unnecessarily intrusive, but the show's strengths totally overwhelm. Modest bonuses include cast answering questions from fans.

I have been watching Bones from the very beginning and have yet to be disappointed by any of the seasons shown thus far the show deals with violence and death but in a very light hearted way. The storylines unfold in a very watchable way and all cast members fit very well into their characters and their areas of expertise within the show. Season 8 lives up to the standards set in previous seasons and I have no hesitation in awarding five stars for its entertainment value and look forward to season 9 when it appears on our screens.

I love love love love love this series and season 8 is no different. All the episodes are good and there are like all series some especially good ones that are both at times amusing and very touching. I came late to this show buying seasons 1-7 as a large box set which was very good value at the time and I have watched it through twice. All the episodes are just as good the second time around even when you know what is going to happen in the story. Season 8 hasn't lost a step considering the changing dynamics of basically all the characters from day one. Some shows can feel that they are really dropping off when you get to the later series, but if the quality continues at this same great level then Bones has plenty of life left in it considering its primarily about decomposed corpses!!!

I thought I would find it boring with Bones pregnant and then mothering, but NOT AT ALL, it is as good as the previous seasons,
if not better. The actors in this series are all remarkable and the screenplay very entertaining

I really like this series. Not only are the plots of each single episode enticing, but also the overall plot, where we get to now more of each character and their background stories, as well as how they start to form relations to each other. I would really reconmment this to anyone, who like stories, which not only includes romance and truly touching freindships, but also likes the thrill of case solvings in a forensic environment.

I always expect the quality of the stories and the writing to suffer when a series runs for so long but I have to admit that this seems to get even better.
The actors all work well together and the temptation to keep making changes has been resisted to the credit of the production team.
This is definitely one for the shelves to be brought out and re watched time and again.
Long may it continue!

Always happy to sit down for a session of Bones on the TV :0)
The beginning of this season is one of the most interesting seeing as how the other finished and the emotional and psychological effect that it is going to have on everyone but especially on Booth as he loses his family for a time. Can't wait to see the new crimes and Brennan's faux pas committed this season :0)

the whole family absolutely love this series, the plots are thought out and the whole chemistry between the team. I won't give away any secrets about this season but all I can say is can't wait for next season. I always wait for box set to come out. And for the cast and directors etc. Keep up the good work, it's brilliant.
