More About the Author

From teaching FBI agents how to detect and recover human remains, to separating and identifying commingled body parts in her Montreal lab, as one of only seventy-seven forensic anthropologists ever certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology, Dr Kathy Reichs has brought her own dramatic work experience to her mesmerising forensic thrillers. For years she consulted to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in North Carolina, and continues to do so for the Laboratoire de Sciences Judiciaires et de Médecine Légale for the province of Québec.

Kathy Reichs has travelled to Rwanda to testify at the UN Tribunal on Genocide, and helped exhume a mass grave in Guatemala. As part of her work at JPAC she aided in the identification of war dead from World War II, Korea, and Southeast Asia. Kathy Reichs has served on the Board of Directors and as Vice President of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and is currently a member of the National Police Services Advisory Board in Canada. She is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

A native of Chicago, she now divides her time between Charlotte and Montreal. Kathy Reichs's first novel Déjà Dead catapulted her to fame when it became a New York Times bestseller, a Sunday Times bestseller and won the 1997 Ellis Award for Best First Novel. All eleven of her novels have been international bestsellers. She is also a producer of the chilling hit TV series Bones. 206 Bones is her twelth novel featuring Dr Temperance Brennan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bones in a Pocket - of the Victim's Trousers,... 17 July 2013
By Jai yen
Format:Kindle Edition
... at first one big puzzle for Dr Tempe Brennan, forensic anthropologist.

When our heroine is called into a private owned retiring place for artists of all kind, she hopes to find some more pieces of one John Doe MCMA-422-13 than the fibula, tibia and two vertebre she has in her cell at her lab in Charlotte/North-Carolina.
But at Mountain Island Lake which has increased in the last week over 15 feet she finds a bag. And in the bag a corpse held together by the cloths.
No way this was Mr Tibia Fibula.
So now she has a female dead person whose remains fit the description of a missing girl called Edith Blanckenship, who was a student helping in her spare time at a center for injured raptors like owls, falcons, bald eagles - the whole range of those kind of birds.

But behind the disappearance of Edith Dr. Tempe Brennan aka Bones will find a much more gruesome secret. And she can only with a lot of luck avoid to become a victim herself...

A good, fast-paced read for all the friends and lovers of "Bones" with a very sad but also very interesting and all-tied-up ending. And once more me and some other readers will certainly ask ourselves where our world is bound to end...

As a bonus "Bones In Her Pocket" also gives the readers the first chance to take a look at the opening chapters of Kathy's new thriller,Bones of the Lost: A Temperance Brennan Novel, out on August, 15.
Which I personally will buy for sure!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Short Story 22 July 2013
By ACB (swansea) TOP 50 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan does not tolerate loose ends. A few bones washed up at Mountain Lake, North Carolina, lead her to a canvas bag floating that may complete her bone profile. The bag contains a decomposing corpse. The area is designated as an art-nature habitat. A raptor hospital is on site with Doris Atkins as frontswoman. An environmentalist study ground, the body fits the profile of missing mature student Edith Blankenship. Tempe and homicide investigator Erskine Sidell are on the case. Their enquiries reveal a surprising concoction of intrigue with a committed eco-saboteur activist, gullible supporters, a Hell's Angel inquisitor concerning the old body well-drop and a vulnerable college professor.

Kathy Reichs delivers a short story that demonstrates Tempe's expertise in closing a case based on clues and hard evidence. Twists and surprises are packed into a short yet enjoyable narrative accompanying her usual humour, drama and sharp dialogue. This includes a sampler for her forthcoming novel, 'Bones Of The Lost'. Very enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice little short story 21 Aug 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Being so used to the full length novels it did seem to go quick and get tied up all neatly, but then it's a short story - so what did I expect.

Writing superb as always.

4.0 out of 5 stars Short taster of the Tempe Brennan series.. 13 July 2013
By Cheryl M-M TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition
A short taster of the Tempe Brennan series that includes the first chapter of Bones of the Lost (Temperance Brennan) at the end.
The taster session will give any new readers a quick insight into the series.
For hardcore fans it is more of a quick and hurried bite.
Tempe is called out to examine bones that turn out to contain more than she expected.
I would recommend a full length novel for a true Tempe experience.
I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley.

4.0 out of 5 stars Who can not like Tempe Brennan? 19 Aug 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really like Kathy Reichs. Her portrayal Of Tempe Brennan gives a very clear idea of the sort of person she is. I only gave it four stars because it followed a pattern that all her books have. Nonetheless I enjoyed it!

Not as interesting as earlier books or as well written.
