Reviews

Charting the notorious rise of southern England's most famous gangsters, Tony Tucker, Patrick Tate and Craig Rolfe, BONDED BY BLOOD is a thrilling biopic that will leave your nerves frayed. The trio of drug suppliers and career criminals were found in 1995, blasted to death by a shot gun in a Range Rover in Essex. A stronghold of fear and violence that allowed them to maintain a large, drug fuelled empire perhaps led to their untimely deaths.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bloody Good Show 28 Sep 2010
Format:DVD
As someone whose taste in cinema does not usually run to much violence, choice language or blood (vampires excepted); I really enjoyed this film! No mere fest of foul language, tough guys, hot chicks, dangerous drugs, big guns, oh, and a Porche for good measure - although it's all there - "Bonded by Blood" has much more going for it. Cleverly directed by Sacha Bennett, this film has excellent touches of visual humour, some very funny lines, and a number of intense performances. There is even a Shakespeare reference - but don't let that put you off! Tamer Hassan as Pat Tate, high on cocaine and drunk on machismo is superbly scary. You have to duck when he starts pumping out the expletives. Altogether a much classier offering than previous efforts in this genre.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth a watch 7 Jan 2011
By JD
Format:Blu-ray|Amazon Verified Purchase
This film is definitely worth buying if you're interested in the Essex Boys/Range Rover murders. Great acting and some of the scenes with Pat Tate are hilarious. You learn a lot more about Michael Steele in this film and just how organised he was as an importer. There are 1 or 2 scenes more brutal than in Rise of the Footsoldier but the shootings at the end are not one of them, I didn't expect this anyway as Rise of shows you actual real footage close-ups of the bodies when they were being taken away.

I'm glad I bought this and will watch it many times again, but personally I think Rise of the Footsoldier is a better told story by Carlton Leach.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Brit-Crime Flick 6 Dec 2010
Format:DVD
Bonded By Blood stands out from the scores of Brit Crime films that have been released in recent years. This film is darker, more violent, more real than many titles in a similar vein. That said don't be dissuaded if violence is not your thing; this is an excellent film featuring a great cast of both usual suspects from Brit-Gangster films (Tamer Hassan) as well as some new upcoming talent (Adam Deacon.)
If you like films like Rise Of The Footsoldier, Layer Cake, Football Factory or The Firm, definitely check this film out. Perfect to watch with a few mates over some beers, and perhaps because it's based on a true story, it just feels much more realistic than, say, overly-slick Guy Ritchie films. Recommended.

It's worth a watch but definately not as good as rise of the footsoldiers, no doubt about that. I watched both these films with my dad, who was a good friend of Pat Tate. Read more
