5.0 out of 5 stars CASINO ROYALE WINNER FROM GREG WILLIAMS!, 6 Nov 2006
By B. BURNETT (South Africa) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)

Beautifully produced record of the making of Casino Royale. It's rare to find such an intensely personal and sensitive collection, and an instant collectible for those with an eye for such things. With Greg Williams' unlimited access to the set, and his previous work with Daniel Craig [eg the outstanding photos accompanying the article "Oh Danny Boy!" for uk Marie Claire] the time is ripe for him to produce another book, and devoted entirely to Craig, the finest actor working today. The release of Casino Royale will hopefully encourage moviegoers to check Amazon DVDs for his previous films, to confirm this for themselves.

2.0 out of 5 stars OK for pictures, useless for anything else, 14 Dec 2006
By Martin Thomson (London UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I got this book expecting one in a similar vein to previous Bond 'making of's', which had successfully balanced excellent stills reproduction (including many excellent behind the scenes examples) with informative text which gave an insight into the film's production.

The first thing to note about this book is that there is NO text whatsoever, only stills, many of which I wonder why they bothered including (I really am not interested in looking at a grainy, full-page picture of Daniel Craig's forehead). Many pictures follow this vein, being nothing more than extremely murky close ups of the actors looking rather bored.

All in all, a rather over-rated collection, with a truly extortionate price tag. Get Stan Winston's new book instead- an absolute stunner in every department!

5.0 out of 5 stars A real insiders guide, 14 Nov 2002
This review is from: Bond on Set (Hardcover)
The usual making of a movie book are heavy on text and light on images. This book is quite the opposite it a fantastic portfolio of the production process of the 20th James Bond Adventure Die Another Day.

The images which are a mixture of Black and White and Colour are of outstanding clarity and give a rare insight into the World of James Bond. The size and scale of the sets. The logistical challenge which presents itself with each new instalment. The book is Bond fans dream come true.

Eon Productions are rightly careful to not let just anyone on their sets to witness the filming of a Bond films so this is the ideal gift for fans of the series or anyone with a passing interest in film production. The images show Brosnan in and out of character and certainly enjoying himself.

Well worth the price - you will look at this book again and again. But so not to spoil the new film look at it after the movie ok.

Worth hunting around for in the Bond makings of books is the Making of Licence to Kill - well worth it.
