Following the CD release of This Left Feels Right (TLFR), a live performance of the album performed at the Borgata Hotel in New Jersey. The first thing to note is that the band intentionally re-arranged all their hits making them sound like entirely new songs (`It's My Life' for Example) the result is a back, intimate and musically interesting performance.

As with the CD, the band have used a range of interesting instruments making the songs tricky to perform and so are helped by additional musicians.
One of the reasons I bought the DVD was to hear two brand new tracks (`Last Man Standing' - which was released as a rock version on Have A Nice Day) and `Thief of Hearts', both of which feature on the Bon Jovi Box-Set.

Also on the DVD is an interactive poker game! It's slightly cheesy, but both fun and amusing; there are also rewards for winning in the form of footage from the `Bounce' tour concert in Hyde Park. There is also a 20-minute section dedicated to a Q&A with the band.
This DVD is brilliant value for money and a good chance to experience a more intimate performance from Bon Jovi. Bon Jovi is a band that excels at live performances and this DVD is proof of it. My favourite new renditions of the songs are `Everyday' - which sounds fantastic live - and `Wanted Dead Or Alive' with the thumping drums at the end.

The DVD is great value of a great performance.

Anybody who bought Bon Jovi's last album, the brilliant "This Left Feels Right", will pretty much know what to expect when buying this DVD. The show consists of the 12 re-worked songs from the album, all of which are brought alive in this live performance and become bona-fide Bon Jovi classics, the real highlights from this bunch coming in the shape of You Give Love A Bad Name, Livin on a Prayer(minus Olivia D'Abo on vocals), Bad Medicine and It's my Life.
The set-list also includes two new songs, Last Man Standing and Thiefs of Hearts that were origionally intended to be on the album but as Jon explains were pulled at the last minute.
Last Man Standing is without doubt the greatest song ever written! Period. I'm not being overly dramatic here but this song is just the most amazing thing you'll ever hear, musically, vocally and most importantly Lyrically this song will blow you away. Jon wrote this song about the sad state of the music industry at the moment where lip syncing is so acceptable and shock value is all important, it's no longer about the guy who can get up on stage with a guitar and actually sing, as he says "Enter at your own risk Mister This may change the way you think, Theres no dancer, theres no diamonds, no this boy dont lip synch", and "These words were more than music they were pictures from the soul, so keep your psudo punk, Hip-Hop, J,Lo junk Your Digital Downloads"
Thief of Hearts while not as good as Last Man Standing is a really cool pop-rock song that gets better and more addictive with each listen.
The rest of the set includes a cover of Dr. Hooks classic Sylvias Mother and accoustic performances of "Love For Sale", "Someday I'll be Saturday Night", "Misunderstood" and "Blood on Blood".

Many fans have been put off by this CD's re-working of the biggest hits of Bon Jovi, but it does show the strength of the songwriting and the willingness of the band to risk such changes with their best selling songs. Don't dismiss it as the hair band thing, or because the whole format is different. Remember also it contains two new songs, and Last Man Standing is a heartfelt comment on the state of the music business today. Like many fans, I love the rock-out Bon Jovi, but this is something else, beautifully crafted songs, performed with love and skill and lots of nice extras too :)

It is great that Bon Jovi have released this DVD of a one-off, two night gig. The reason why it is so special is because the set up of their instruments acoustically, and the number of different instruments used throughout the show, is not something they can do on tour.
So the band recorded it, so that people who couldn't see them live do get to see what happened at that show - and it is great. It was inspired to re-record their famous songs in a new, refreshing way. It presents new meaning onto the songs, and make us feel like we are hearing them again for the first time.
All their best songs are here, but most striking is Livin' On A Prayer, It's My Life and Always. This is not an energetic show, Jon doesn't run around here. It is an intimate setting, and when Jon chats to the crowd he is funny and inventive and interesting.
Another song worth mentioning is the first release of the songs Last Man Standing and Thief Of Hearts, previously unreleased Bon Jovi songs. They are good, but you'll have to let them grow on you.
This DVD package is superb. Not only can you watch the concert in any order you wish, but there's a whole second disc of extras to discover. Playing poker with the band was great fun, and the behind the scenes documentary shows us how hard and long it takes to set up a concert, with all the people involved.
Best of all though is the Jukebox. In this section you can see six tracks from the band's legendary 2003 Hyde Park concert. It looks amazing, sounds amazing, and the crowd is huge!! All six songs are brilliant, particularly Captain Crash, which you can tell really got the crowd going.
This is one of the best music DVDs I have ever seen. A sublime concert, with a great collection of extras, makes it indispensible.
