From the droning noise of mantra-like opening track "Bon chic bon genre" to the laid back "Sauntry sly chic" to the ultimate Clockwork Orange anthem "Drencrom Velocet Synthemesc", the band take you on a trip through their weird, spaced out world and in the end will leave you wanting to repeat the whole thing over and over again. "Vito Satan", the band's most recent single, may be a very accessible pop tune with a lovely melody, but apart from being very untypical for Campag, to me it doesn't quite live up to the wickedness of "Pike in your life" (a very good song to listen to when you're in a strop) or the apocalyptic "Harsh Shark".
Without Pete Voss, the group wouldn't be the same, because it is his unique voice that goes along so well with the music, being energetic, original and raw. Pete once said to journalists that he is annoyed by other singers' good voices and tuneful singing because it lacks emotion - you get the picture.
This album was among the NME's top 10 albums of 1999, and deservedly so. Since I bought it 2 years ago, I have been listening to it nearly every single day, and I can only recommend this little masterpiece to everyone who reads this review.
