Most bands are lucky to have one reasonable songwriter, but Elbow Jane has three superb songsmiths who tackle themes of relationships, war, their locality and family. As R2 magazine said of them that they never forget “that they’re in the business of providing memorable tunes, not polemic” or, as fRoots magazine put it “Not for them the rant from the roof, rather, atmospheric contemplation” So, you get and array of excellent musicianship providing sensitive backings to classy vocals and soaring harmonies. This is a fabulous album, showing great musicianship and song writing talents. The songs are full of interesting and touching lyrics performed by gifted singers.

This CD came to my attention when I was lucky enough to catch Elbow Jane live. What a band! A great atmosphere and great songs that are captured on this CD.
As a long-standing fan of one of the band members I had high expectations - and these were exceeded. This is a stand-out selection of contemporary folk, if they have to be given a label, songs that make you listen and want to hear again, and to hear more.
Elbow Jane have already got a national audience via Radio 2 and that's no less than they deserve. Beautiful voices and harmonies effortlessly combining on songs with meaningful lyrics - a CD to unwind to and to appreciate.
Stand - out songs are the title track and Joe Topping's haunting and lovely Throw Me To The Wind, a song that brought tears when I first heard it. This is the music you thought wasn't being made any more. Pure quality.
