As noted by other reviewers, this is a nice, well photographed book showing just the kind of "Lagenlook" type clothes that I love but so often have trouble finding, or if I do - they are very expensive to buy ready made. So when I came across this book buying it was a no-brainer - especially with the subtitle Easy-Sew Clothes. I am not a complete novice but it is a long time since I've attempted to make anything for myself so I thought this would be a great place to start. Hmmm.....................
Yes, printing out dozens of A4 sheets and sticking them all together is a pain, but given the lack of patterns of this type out there, and also the price of a single pattern, I would say that it's worth the effort. A couple of tips; make sure there is enough paper in the printer to complete the task, and that the stack is held in place by the sliding clip. This keeps the alignment the same throughout the printing and makes matching up easier. A blog on this book on an American site also suggested taking the CD to a print shop and ask them to print out the layout sheet as one piece, although it appeared to be quite expensive to do.
I can only imagine that the other reviewers who found the instructions to be clear and concise are old hands at this kind of thing who can read between the lines, or make assumptions and leaps of faith that novices cannot; as I found the instructions to be sparse and in some places misleading. e.g. the pinning and stitching of darts where the printed pattern shows pleats. Also according to the ladies on the blog, there are quite a few mistakes throughout the patterns. Probably nothing that would trouble more experienced sewers but possibly something for beginners to be aware of.
I am going to persevere with it and hope that I can work things out for myself ( or with a little help from t'internet and friends ). In relative terms the clothes are probably Easy-Sew, but can I suggest that it's not for the complete beginner?

I had borrowed this book from the library and was reluctant to give back so bought a copy! The book contains 15 designs along with tips for changes to pockets, design elements and sewing instructions. I feel that some sewing experience is needed to follow some of the instructions and unlike commercial patterns it doesn't have pictorial references. Make sure you read the instructions on the CD regarding seam allowances etc. You will also need a vast amount of printer paper and tape. The asymmetrical dress takes 72 pages.
Sizes vary from UK12 to UK30 but are such simple designs they can be fitted to your shape and size.
I have made several jackets, the simple top and the asymmetrical dress, I was worried they would be a bit 'tent' like but the shaping, pleats and tucks add the shape and style.

For anyone who loves linen clothes, in breathtaking designs, but cannot afford the prices in the stores...then This is the book for you..,as long as you have some time and fairly basic sewing skills. The patterns are wonderful, easy to print out or copy...the instructions are very clear. The author has done a very good job and the book is such good value to money as there are so many patterns included, I would recommend this book to anyone, of any age or size...there is something for everyone. I must try and make all!

Lovely. For the larger lady who wants something a little different, this is perfect. Patterns easy to download, bit time consuming sticking them together then cutting out, but worth the effort. Easy to sew, even when the instructions get a little complicated !!! Would recomed even to novice dressmakers

Great patterns, easy to print and assemble. Would prefer more detailed instructions and pictures for making up . Would recommend if like me you don't want to follow normal fashion patterns and want a more individual style .
