This is a handsome record. The recordings are all from the 60s and are superb, with the possible exception of the Boieldieu, which was recorded in a church, with some loss of woodwind colours, but it is not as bad as digital church recordings, and the sound is clear and spacious. As often happens with classical recordings from the 60s, the other three works sound as good as one could wish to hear. For me the highlight of the works is the Tailleferre, but the Ravel is one of that composer's best and I have never heard it better played than here. The Saint-Saens is also valuable. Overall this is a really fine record.
