Format: Audio CD
Three albums in and Canadian electro-pop trio Dragonette would appear
to have hit their stride. 'Body Parts' is their most coherent body
(sorry!) of work so-far. Sure it's formulaic and derivative with its
appropriation of some of the best and worst habits of the genre but
there's a buoyant quality to these twelve new numbers which pushes
them a tad closer to the front of the queue. It's a case of "simple is as
simple does" and nothing wrong with that. The success of the recording
has much to do with singer/keyboard player Martina Sorbara's voice which,
although not the most powerful or distinctive instrument on Planet Pop,
has a playful and persuasive presence even when she appears to be channeling
Kylie Minogue (jump immediately to 'Right Woman' for evidence of her debt to
our favourite diminutive Australian!) and (moreover) she can carry a tune.

Keep your expectations low and you will in all probability find much to
enjoy here. Standout tracks include the irrepressibly frothy 'Giddy Up';
'Lay Low', with its sweet-as-syrup yodel of a chorus and four-square backbeat;
the infectious wannabe-a-rock-chick shenanigans of 'Live In The City' and
especially the delightfully melodic finale provided by 'Ghost'. A very pretty song.

It's not rocket science (witness the ill-judged inclusion of 'Rocket Ship'; a bit of
a stinker truth-be-told) but makes up with enthusiasm what it lacks in imagination.

Nice enough.

Excellent Dance Music. Nice Listening. Good Sound. 28 Oct 2012

I first heard of Dragonette just a few weeks ago in an excellent review in the "Wall Street Journal." No kidding. They have some excellent music reviews and this one was right on. I could tell by the reading that I would like Dragonette. Sure enough. I like it! Excellent dance music! Nice listening. Relentlessly high energy. The recording reminds me of when I used to do workouts to New Wave music back in the early 80s. My preferred workouts were aerobic dancing and skipping rope, with an emphasis on the latter. One of my favorite recording groups was Devo, but there were many others. I could skip all the way through a couple CDs without missing a beat. I ran several marathons using this as training. It's a long story. Gosh, in listening to this Electrohouse stuff, I wish I could get my rope out and go to it, but I'm now 76 and that probably wouldn't be too wise. Did I mention that I once lost 30 pounds aided by music like this, and without going on a diet.

In any case, the music on this CD is wonderful stuff. The electronic background, aided and abetted by a variety of acoustical instruments, is excellent. The sound is quite good and is well mixed to separate the music from the vocals.Vocalist Martina has a wonderful voice and really fits the music well. In a way, she reminds me a little of Lady Gaga, but without the need for a meat dress. Her voice is charming and alluring. It's clear and crisp and both blends in and stands out well from the electro background. Nice going! This is just an excellent album. I may have to listen in on a few other Dragonette CDs.

Easily their most well-rounded album... 29 Sep 2012
By Michael J. Li - Published on Amazon.com

Bodyparts is a natural evolution from their second album, Fixin' to Thrill. Simply put, Dragonette sounds far more confident in their music. It's lyrically honest and personal, and I expect that this time around, their sound will likely have a lot of mass appeal. The good news is that they don't deviate from the edgy indie-synth sound that's unique to their their band. Bodyparts is catchy, dance-able, melodious, and flows pretty seemlessly from song to song. I expect music connoisseurs across multiple genres will enjoy this album.

FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!!! 13 Dec 2012

Never heard of "Dragonette" before and thought I would listen to the cut samples.
WOW! What a breath of fresh air! She is what I remember "Cyndy Lauper" did for me back in the 80's.
She adds such infectious beats and songs with actual lyrics with meaning!
She sings many different genres and manages to keep your attention through out!
I will be watch for her next release with great anticipation.

For all fans of Electro House or addictive pop / dance music 27 Sep 2012
By Music lover "tom" - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Featuring the distinctive vocals from Dragonette, French DJ superstar managed to score three major hits across Europe and Asia. The first being, "Boys and Girls" the second (which needs no introduction..) the highly addictive "Hello" followed by "Big in Japan."

This is Dragonette's third album but will / should be the first one that will make an impact to a much wider audience beyond her loyal fan base in Canada (Toronto - where they live) and the U.S.

It already features two singles, "Let it Go" which is equally addictive as "Hello" and one of those great tracks for a club or a weekend party as well as "Live in this City." "My Legs" or "Rocket Ship" could easily be the next single... There are of couse several mid-tempo ballads like "Untouchable" or "Lay Low" that give the album a more balanced feel.

If you like Martin Solveig or The Black Eyed Peas " The Beginning" or No Doubt's latest album "Push and Feel" then this cd will make an excellent addition to your collection.

Dragonette's vocals have a hard or dare I say rock edge to it but it blends perfectly to electro or dance beats. This is what separates this group from the countless others who sound like they all come from the same artists. (I'm thinking of Calvin Harris and David Guetta - both have created fantastic hits but have oversaturated the dance music scene with similar types of songs...)

Fun and unique music. Great sound! Check them out if you can. The lead singers voice is the one that you hear on the song 'Hello' that was pretty popular not too long ago.
