I own a couple of cheaper sets of bands - similar on paper to the Bodylastic ie the type with a carabiner (spring shackle) to attach to handles, ankle straps, etc. (rather than the type with handles permanently attached to each tube) The first thing that strikes you when you open the pack is the size/quality of the carabiner compared to cheaper sets. It is very substantial - some might think it too big/heavy and overkill - but I doubt it will ever break!

The handles, rings, door anchor are all similarly far higher quality than the cheaper (£12-18) sets I have had from Amazon (and one from eBay).

The tubes are genuinely "double-dipped" elastic and not cheaper extruded rubber claiming to be dipped - as many are (especially on eBay). You can see the two layers if you inspect the ends of the tubes. I did not realise until I bought these that each tube has a woven nylon? safety cord inside to prevent it being overstretched and also give you protection in the event of a tube snapping.

There is huge 24MB PDF manual on the DVD that gives a very comprehensive how-to of using resistance bands. Also on the DVD are a few movies which are tasters of the video work-outs on the Bodylastic sister website [...] (which is free to join BTW even if you dont own their product!) The website can make it fun to do the exercises along with an instructor. There are live-streamed classes every day (!) and all the sessions are archived into catagories for watching on demand.

If you are a guy, go for the 6-tube set with the extra 23lb tube (purple). The black tube may not be strong enough for some exercises (but you can always double up of course if you need more resistance.

I did some research before buying these, other bands (many cheaper) are nowhere near as good a build quality as these. The whole set is well designed and the bands themselves give you confidence in use.

Use the DVD, watch the 'how to use your bands & anchors' small videos for quick usage advice/tips - especially if like me you are new to bands. Things like doubling up, wrapping bands around your foot etc. etc.

I'm using this for P90x as i don't have a chin-up bar, but these are perfect for me to take on my travels and I can see myself using these for a long time!

So I bought this as a PLUS when I'm away from gym, like vacations or when it's closed or I can't go for any reason. That's its job, and only that. Don't expect this to be a gym replacement. NO WAY. So now that I made this clear...

It looks like a set of quality bands, with a lot of support through the internet (youtube for example). You must first get used to the motion of the exercises, which is a bit tricky and unusual (especially the first times). To be honest I did not find many exercises that are really good and do a great job, and there are groups of muscles (like back for example) which are very hard to workout with these bands. Although there are few exercises that are quite good and nice as alternative program off of the gym.

I this set with me on vacations, it's light. Even if it wasn't enough, it kept me in shape and it was pretty easy to use it. I will take it with me again if I go somewhere, it's kinda a good friend heh, but nothing more.

Tip: Try different exercises and watch videos from youtube in order to find which exercises suits you and do the most on you. Try to be focused on the motion.

Got rid of my multi-gym, which took up the whole room and replaced it with this. Buy if your going to use it, what's the point in buying it and throwing it in the cupboard!!

I've used resistance bands in the past and have never been very impressed. I always felt that they were a poor substitute for heavy weights. Recently, however, I needed to increase the resistance range of my home-gym equipment, but I no longer had the room to accommodate any more large weight plates.

I chose Bodylastics because they have the equivalent weight written on each of the colour-coded bands, and you can easily re-configure the resistance using the carabiners that are attached to end of the bands.

I now incorporate them into my workouts, alongside my traditional weight-lifting equipment. I find that they are particularly useful for warm-ups and isolation exercises.

Many men are wary of resistance bands because they assume that they are only for women or the puny beginner, but I find that they are just as challenging as any cast iron equivalent--and they're also very portable!

Having owned a cheap set of exercise bands for nearly a year and been pinged in the face when one band snapped and then been hit in the foot when a handle snapped. I decided to get a better set this time. The difference is incredible
The build quality , resistance and attention to detail is amazing. These are the rolls Royce of resistance bands. The caribiners have the resistance level on them an look strong enough to tow a car. I'm delighted and would recommend them to anyone. Spare yourself the injuries and spend the extra on these bad boys.
Even the carry bag is well made.
