Product Description

Elizabeth Chapman is saved from an armed robber by a giant Kodiak bear who shifts into a large, well-muscled, and fully naked human male. But when it's revealed that the robber is the brother of a dangerous criminal, Elizabeth finds herself the target of a vendetta.

Ronan, the Bear Shifter, takes her to Shiftertown for safety, where Elizabeth learns that the mateless Ronan, alone in the world, takes care of Shifters who have also been left on their own. Having grown up in foster care, Elizabeth can only admire how protective Ronan is.

But Ronan will only let Elizabeth leave the confines of Shiftertown if he becomes her 24/7 bodyguard. Elizabeth chafes at her restriction, but agrees. The trouble is, the sassy human Elizabeth is triggering Ronan's long-buried need to find himself a mate.

A short novel of the Shifters Unbound series (46,000 words; sixteen chapters).

I've had a soft spot for Ronan since Primal Bonds, but now I am officially in love. LOL.
Ronan is such a sweet and caring guy. The fact that he looks after all those cubs made him even more adorable. I Really wish that Jennifer Ashley had used Ronan as one of the main books in this series. With a little bit more page time they could have been incredible (this story was a good length, I'm just being greedy).
I was so happy to see all the gang again and that Liam and Kim have had their daughter. There is one guy that I am loving more and more with every book...Ellison. I was really hoping that his book would be next but apparently we are going over to a new clan in Las Vegas.
A really great addition to this series. Would definately recommend.

Great Shifters Unbound novella 21 Nov 2011
By M.S. Thomas - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I love the Shifter's Unbound series so I woke up early this morning to download and read this novella. Other than stopping to refill my coffee I could not put it aside. I've been looking forward to Ronan's story and Bodyguard was everything I wanted and more.

Ronan is a Kodiak bear Shifter and foster dad to a house full of bear cubs. He spent the majority of his life alone and though he has the respect and friendship of his fellow Shifters, he's never known love. Due to the small amount of female Shifters, Ronan feels he will never have a mate.

Elizabeth is a human novelty shop owner with a past she'd love to forget. All she wants is to run her shop in peace and protect her little sister. One night while at the store a thug comes in and robs her. Ronan was in the store and rescued her. Due to Shifter Law, Ronan is arrested and surprised that Elizabeth would defend him. He is drawn to her and knows that with the robber being a gang member Elizabeth will not be safe until he's taken care of. He decides to become Elizabeth's bodyguard.

There were so many things I loved about this novella. The chemistry between Ronan and Elizabeth was great. Though a huge Kodiak bear, Ronan is gentle, sweet and kind; I couldn't get enough of him. I really liked Elizabeth and her very open-minded little sister. Getting to meet Liam and Kim's little bundle of joy was great and it was nice to see how things progressed for Sean and Andrea. Thing I loved most? Spike. I was thrilled to get more of him. He is by far my favorite of the Shifters and it was cool to get a little more insight into his life and personality. I'm really curious to see what Jennifer Ashley has planned for him.

If you are a fan of the Shifters Unbound series you will love Ronan's story. Can't wait for the release of book three, Wildcat, in January.

4.5 stars - A real honey of a leading man, in this Shifters Unbound connected short 25 Nov 2011
By melindeeloo - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Kodiak bearshifter Ronan is in the right place at the right time to save Elizabeth, one of the few store owners who will serve shifters, during an armed robbery attempt by a punk who planned on killing Elizabeth when he was done. But when it turns out that the punk is the younger brother to the leader of the newest gang in town, Ronan's protective instincts go into overdrive and Ronan decides that Elizabeth needs a fulltime bodyguard - him - and brings her to the safety of his Shiftertown home and adds her to the collection of fosterlings living under his roof.

Elizabeth soon finds herself under the protection of the entire shifter population and even though she's is independent and used to taking care of herself, and has major trust issues, Elizabeth can tell that Ronan is one of the 'good guys' and seven feet of protective shifter male is pretty hard to resist.

What a nice surprise to find this Shifters Unbound connected short, I actually really like this series and it was fun to see the past leads in supporting roles, but I really loved bearshifter Ronan, he was a real honey, big and protective, but still respectful of Elizabeth's independence. For those who haven't discovered Ashley's series yet, this short gives a good feel for the Shifters Unbound universe, along with a little teaser for the next novel, Wild Cat (Shifters Unbound, Book 3) coming Jan of 2012.

Missing some of the magic 6 Jan 2012
By Tina Wheatley - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have read the first two books in this series and the twist the author puts on her shifter stories are refreshing. This is why I didn't hesitate to read this book. I love stories that center around bear shifters-I mean they are huge, ferocious, protective, and sexy.

This novella had all the ingredients to be a great read- bear shifter-Hello?!; hero with a name of Ronan and a heroine who need to be protected. *Sigh* Unfortunately this book supports my theory about novellas. They are either a hit or miss. The author can either hit the mark by telling a great story in a short amount of words or the story can feel rushed or missing some vital piece.

For me, this novella was missing some of the magic from books one and two. Ronan was all that I imagined as a bear shifter. He was tough yet vulnerable and lonely. I had a hard time feeling the relationship between Ronan and Elizabeth. It just seemed that their relationship was surfaced and the sex scenes-well you can't actually call them that-their was no real intimacy. Often times a sex/love making scene will make up for the lack of magic between a couple; however the intimacy between the two seemed an afterthought.

I rated this three stars because the author is talented and keeps you engaged in the story. This novella is a nice "in between" read to get you ready for your next book. Think of it as a way to clean your reading pallet.
