More About the Author

Steve Parker has written or contributed to more than 300 books and 100 websites in the areas of science and nature, and visits schools and other centres throughout Britain to hold workshops and fun events. Formerly on the staff at London's Natural History Museum, Steve is a Senior Scientific Fellow of the Zoological Society and winner of several awards. In 2014 his title "Kill or Cure: An Illustrated History of Medicine" (DK) reached the New York Times Bestseller Top 10 and won the British Medical Association Book Award for Public Understanding of Science. In 2013 he received the UK School Libraries Association Information Book for "Science Crazy" (QED). Away from all that, Steve enjoys music, real ales, and also walking, cycling and swimming (but as yet he has not attempted a triathlon).

I put my children through "How your body works" when they were young and now it is time for the grandchildren.
Wonderful illustrations, straight down the line, clear and no fuss text, the whole presentation is very imaginative. I am very grateful the book is still printed - and updated.
It is good value and delivery was excellent: Elite Digital kept me informed of the progress of the book which was delivered well within the promised time.

We home educate and are using this book to help us learn about the human body. It has lots of hands on activities which my child loves as that is how he learns best. Great book for kids of all ages.

The Bridge To Help You & Your Child Learn In a Fun Way 27 Mar 2000
By Laurie J. Mitchell - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I had the privilege of using this book as a guideline for teaching a group of "home school" youngsters from 1st-9th grade. Science can be a scary subject to those of us who remember the mean and fierce physics/chemistry/biology teacher. Mr. Parker makes science enjoyable and exciting creating a feeling of glad anticipation for the next lesson. The experiments are easy and help the children visually see the workings of this majestic creation called the human body. My students specifically enjoyed the experiment having to do with how the inner ear works. Please do yourself and your kids a favor by buying this book. You will learn to love science for the first time in your life.

This is great for ideas to do experiments with your kids. There are easy and harder experiments (you can do part of the set up for younger children and let older children do it all). I do wish there was a little more explanation of some the background science specifics. This copy was in great shape even though it says good it looks great with minimal wear.
Great addition to our homeschool! 30 Jan 2013

some of the ingredients for science projects were a bit hard to find, but both of my teenage boys have loved the simple as well as the complex projects in this book. The favorite was the moving model of the hand. It took a while, but they still keep it on the shelf!

We love Eyewitness, but this book is above and beyond!
