Book Description

May 2009 Sexy Mystery
The Charmed Killer is still on the loose.... Like every woman in Atlanta, Carlotta Wren is nervous and looking over her shoulder as a serial killer stalks the city, leaving charms in the mouths of his victims. Carlotta seeks solace in the home of an old friend who’s vying to be her lover, and because of the Wren family’s connections to the victims, is warned to stay away from body-moving and the investigation. Still, Carlotta can’t resist a little sleuthing on her own—she’s convinced the charms point to the killer’s identity. And as clues and bodies stack up, Carlotta begins to suspect the sicko is taunting her... “Fun and fast-paced!” —Romantic Times Book Reviews “Stephanie Bond never fails to entertain me and deserves to be an auto-buy.” —Romance Reviews Today “Book 5 of the Body Movers series started out with a bang and totally kept me engrossed.” —The Romance Readers Connection

More About the Author

Stephanie Bond was several years into a corporate computer programming career when an instructor in her night school MBA program remarked that she had a flair for writing and encouraged her to submit one of her projects to academic journals. "But," Stephanie says, "all I could think was 'I wonder if I could write a romance novel?'" Bond grew up on a farm in eastern Kentucky where the entertainment choices were few. Luckily, she had a beloved aunt who shared her passion for reading. "When she visited once a year, she brought boxes and boxes of gothic novels by Victoria Holt and Phyllis Whitney and lush historical romances--I was in heaven! So suddenly thinking about writing in the genre of the books I loved was very exciting." After writing every spare moment for two years, Stephanie sold her first romantic comedy manuscript, IRRESISTIBLE? to Harlequin books. Two years later, she walked away from her corporate career to write commercial fiction full time. To date, she's published over 60 romance and mystery projects with Random House, St. Martin's Press, HarperCollins, and Mira Books, and is most well-known for her BODY MOVERS humorous mystery series. Her newest series is TWO GUYS DETECTIVE AGENCY (about two sisters whose last name is Guy). Stephanie lives in midtown Atlanta and is probably working on a story at this very moment.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good read, but left dangling indefinitely! 27 Nov 2010

Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
I love Stephanie Bond's style; her books are fast-paced, funny, filled with red-hot passion and lots of excitement, but this series has left a very sour taste - I raced through books 1 through 4, barely able to wait to crack the next cover to find out what mysterious/romantic adventure would befall Carlotta. Each book is written as a cliff-hanger; there is not a "temporary" ending to help soothe the wait. All well and good, as long as there is relief on the horizon. However, book 5 seems to do more unraveling than weaving the plotline, book 6 even more so, and... Horrors!! The rest of the series appears to be on more or less permanent hiatus, awaiting a possible TV series that doesn't actually seem to be in the works. I am very disappointed that the publisher and/or Stephanie Bond have opted for the same anti-reader ploy of Charlaine Harris's Sookie series. I'm not sure that I wish I'd never started this series, but I am indeed sorry that I'll probably never get to see how Carlotta's tale ends. Since I do wish I'd been warned beforehand, this is my caveat to all readers desiring an eventual plotted (and definitely foreseen) finish. You'll get sucked in, you'll love it, - and then you'll hate it...

4.0 out of 5 stars 5 Bodies to Die For by Stephanie Bond 23 May 2009
By jjmachshev - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
"5 Bodies to Die For" by Stephanie Bond picks up right where "4 Bodies and a Funeral" left off. If you haven't read the previous books in this series, DO NOT try to start here! Bond's 'Body Movers' series is marketed under 'sexy mystery' and that's about a perfect way to describe it. Even when the situation becomes serious, the author quickly finds a way to lighten the tone which makes these reads wonderful for a lazy afternoon. But you probably don't want to read them in public--unless you don't mind having other people look at you strangely when you're doubled over with laughter.

Carlotta's life is spinning ever more out of control. The 'Charm Killer' is still on the loose; an ex-coworker who tried to kill her has escaped from the mental ward; hunky body mover Cooper is dodging Carlotta's calls; Wesley is getting in ever-deeper with the local mob; and Carlotta has to move in with the ex-fiance who dumped her when her Dad ran off. Is that enough action? Apparently not, because Carlotta's car is bombed, in her driveway, and that's the impetus behind her moving in with Peter (the ex-fiance). Peter is everything Carlotta wanted...but she's a different woman after all these years and she's finding out that you really can't go back. Especially when there appear to be some people from Carlotta's old crowd who have no intention of letting her return go unremarked.

You may want to make sure you have book 6, "6 Killer Bodies", in hand before you start on this one. I'm tapping my toes (im)patiently because I have to wait another week (!) for its release. Of course, maybe other readers are more patient than I am; but if so, don't tell me!
4.0 out of 5 stars fun thriller 8 May 2009
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Atlanta remains gripped with terror as The Charmed Killer continues to intimidate the city. Meanwhile Carlotta Wren hides at the home of her former fiancé Peter, but his late wife's presence dominates his residence; besides his elite pals hold her culpable for sharing the DNA of her father who pulled a few fiscal stunts on them; ergo she is unwelcome.

Her body-mover friend Cooper and his assistant her brother Wesley are finding business a bit slow in spite of the antics of the Charmed Killer. In spite of the down turn in the economy causing less professional corpse transportation, as always, Carlotta finds life out of control.

The fifth body movers' thriller continues Carlotta's adventures as a corpse and hunk magnet as the dead pile up while police detective Jack, her former fiancé Peter, and Cooper the professional body mover want her. The overarching plot makes snail progress leading to whether Carlotta is losing her Mojo or just filler. Still the lighthearted romp retains its graveyard jocularity that is a trademark of the series while fans will wonder who the last man standing will be in the Carlotta sweepstakes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely a good read 10 July 2014

Once you start reading the series, you have to keep reading to know how it turns out. You begin to know the character so well. Best to read the series in order. Although the background is explained throughout for those who start in the middle, it is distracting to those who started at the beginning - too many recap details. But definitely a good read regardless.
