More About the Author

Geoff Waugh, born in 1937, is the eldest of his minister father's nine children and began teaching at 19 with a great class of 43 boys. He then completed theological college and taught in schools and Bible Schools in the highlands of Papua New Guinea, living mostly in bamboo and grass roof houses, sometimes in villages. He married Meg, also a teacher, and their first child was born in the remote mission hospital. They returned to Australia, where two more children were born, and they lived mainly in Brisbane in an extended family community home linked with other community homes involved in renewal. Geoff taught on renewal and revival at Bible College, Trinity Theological College and Christian Heritage College.

Geoff enjoys travel. The family explored Israel for two months, based in Jerusalem and Tiberius on Galilee, and visited the Sinai and Egypt, sailing on the Nile and climbing into the Great Pyramid. Geoff and Meg toured Europe including visiting Oberammergau for the Passion Play, and led mission teams to many countries. Geoff enjoys cross-cultural mission and taught on revival and transformation to church leaders in Africa, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, China, and the South Pacific nations of the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea.

Eight grandchildren now enrich his life. Geoff lives with five of them and their parents in a large extended family home, designed and built by his son to accommodate two families plus a granny flat, and many visitors. They have hosted mission teams and church leaders from overseas. Three generations of them, father, son and eldest grandchild, have been on mission overseas together.

Geoff's books focus on renewal and revival. They include Flashpoints of Revival (2 editions), South Pacific Revivals, Light on the Mountains: Pioneer Mission in PNG, Living in the Spirit (2 editions), Fruit and Gifts of the Spirit, Church on Fire, The Leader's Goldmine, three Kingdom Life study books (Matthew, Mark, Luke), and his autobiographical adventures, Looking to Jesus: Journey into Renewal and Revival.

Spirit led ministry for the body of Christ 21 July 2013
By Valerie Caraotta - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Author Geoff Waugh has been generous by providing several mini books encompassing body ministry. Each has a different flavor but all draw you closer to the concept of what today's ministry needs to entail. Whether in church or in home groups all must center, he states, on relationships and using the varying gifts of the body to build up God's kingdom. Just like Jesus taught on kingdom living we too need to break out of comfortable tradition, dissolve the gap between clergy and laity, and not conform to the world but be an agent of transformation to the world.

Servant leaders, Waugh believes, are called and anointed to equip others for ministry. It is not about position, hierarchy, or authority but a question of function and service. As the order of service is dictated by the Spirit's outpouring, there are new songs in worship that can emerge as well as inspirational insights to edify the body.
The contrast given between traditional leading and 21 st century servant leadership is very informative. It allows pastors and leaders to evaluate the way things are done and help them lead in supportive ways.

The media and educational access via technology has allowed information at our fingertips and Waugh will share how the purpose of education has changed and what adult learners most appreciate today. This resource will be of benefit to all ministry leaders and teachers. I recommend it for positive change and for allowing the Holy Spirit, the Great Teacher, to have full reign.
