This is a classic book on the Alexander Technique. I think the book is for anyone who wants to learn about the technique, and it is especially useful for dedicated students and Alexander Teachers. The author was trained by F.M. Alexander and his brother A.R., so he was able to give a first-hand account of what the two brothers were like and he has an in depth understanding of the technique. The book provides a lot of insight into what the Alexander Technique really is, what makes it unique, and why it is effective in helping people. The author also conducted a series of scientific experiments to explore what happens in the body when using the Alexander Technique. The description of some of the experiments provides for some dense reading for those who aren't scientifically inclined, but the experiments are still valuable and worth reading about, especially since the author was the first person to conduct a scientific investigation into the Alexander Technique. In addition to gaining a better understanding of the technique, I enjoyed reading the chapters about some of the history surrounding the technique, such as the Trial in Johannesburg and the relationship that F.M. Alexander had with the famous philosopher John Dewey. Overall I'm really glad I purchased this book because I plan to refer back to it and re-read certain parts as my learning continues.
