Product Description

First of all, knives are one of the most important tools in a kitchen. For some people they even become an obsession. Understandably so, because after having worked with a state of the art knife there is no going back. Secondly, knives need to be handy, right there on the kitchen counter for easy access and yet safely stored at the same time. The Bistro Knife Block does both ideally: it keeps your everyday paring, utility, chef’s and bread knives handy and safe.

Got this knife block as a Christmas present and it looks fantastic and holds all my knives comfortably. I wanted a compact knife block as I live in a small London flat with space being a premium in my kitchen.

It does however have a flaw in my opinion. I have a number of global knives including a 20 cm cooks knife and a carving knives which are sharp as a razor. Unfortunately the knife block is its not deep enough to cover the whole of the blade leaving the top 2 cm below the handle proud of the top. Its not a big deal for me and not enough for me to return it but given that a 20 cm knife is a standard length for a cooks knife its a little disappointing and not entirely as safe as it should be. Would suggest before you buy do what i didn't and check the product dimensions!

I'd had a knife block on the list for a long time but they either come with a set of cheap knives or don't have the right combination for the ones I already own. Enter the Bodum Knife Block in a variety of sexy colours. We already had a green theme in the kitchen and this went perfectly.

The idea is that you stand your knives up in between lots of thin upright plastic straws which means you can have as many knives that will fit, ranging in sizes and shapes. I have a chef's / Japanese style knife which is quite deep so one of them has to go in sideways. I don't mind, it wouldn't fit in any of the others I tried.

I have about 6 or 7 knives in it at any one point and they slide out so easily yet are firmly held in place. It's also a decent weight which means there's no fear of it falling over and injuring someone.

I think if my kitchen theme changed, I'd get the same in a different colour.

I opened the box & thought "no way are all of my knives going to fit in there !". How wrong I was. I have fitted 1 x extra large carving knife, 3 x large carving knives, 2 x small knives, 1 x ham slice, 1 x carving fork plus a fully fledged professional steel !!!!! Yes, it will hold a heavy steel too. I still have space left for at least 3 more knives. Despite being rather full it remains sturdy & looking gorgeous. Brilliant product & cracking colour too.

Looks great. It's not very deep so the bigger knives have to go in at an angle. But you can fit quite a lot of knives in it and it's a neat size and very sturdy.

We love this knife block. We have an assortment of knives and you can fit loads into this, even huge ones as they can be put in at an angle. It looks great in our kitchen. Definitely recommend it.

It's a very smart and flexible knife block. I bought two to keep loads of knives in, and they look great on my kitchen worktop.

It's only really wide enough for 1 knife, so you end up with a row of knives "horizontally" arranged across the block, if that makes sense (as opposed to the "vertical" alignment you usually get in wooden blocks), but I think that actually works better.

Will also hold thicker blunt objects like sharpening steels, although you have to force them in a bit, but this doesn't have a lasting distorting effect on the strands within.

Very practical, very smart, and seemingly very good quality.

this is a neat, space-saving, brilliant design. Takes knives of all sizes and lots of them in minimum space. The colour (green) is bright and matches my kitchen beautifully.
