Looks good but deceiving. The lid is fiddly to open and doesn't give easy access for filling. More importantly after a few months the lid catch went meaning that it lifted mid-boil causing it not to switch of, filling the room with steam.

I had to buy a new kettle a few months after purchase. The lid is held in place by two spindly plastic pivots that broke through normal use. I wouldn't buy this model again.

Needed a new kettle and after a few fancy eco/new fangled ones that didn't really work, I thought I'd go for a simple (and cool) looking one from a reliable manufacturer. It wasn't cheap but I was buying something to last years... Sadly however, this turned out to be a cheaply made, badly designed piece of rubbish which ended up in the bin within a few weeks.

    Problems...
    1. As other reviewers have said, this kettle takes ages to turn off.
    2. The steam collects round the internal rim in a weird way causing black mould to grow (never seen anything like this before on any kettle)
    3. The one/off switch is crap.
    4. Within about a week, the top casing of the handle started to pull away from the bottom.
    5. The heavy lid (why does it need to be so heavy?) is difficult to click into place so can easily swing open leaving the kettle to boil and boil. A big hazard!
    6. The aforementioned heavy lid is hinged on two teeny weeny plastic pins... within a few weeks one had snapped off and then the other. The lid, which fell into the water, seemed to be filled with sponge or something, so it sucked up loads of water and became even heavier.

This kettle may look nice from the outside but I cannot believe this went through a design and manufacturing process and actually got made. I've bought loads of bodum in the past and it's all been good but this is such a hazardous and lazily made piece of tat that I will never buy anything from them again.

    Zero stars Bodum!

This kettle is gorgeous - I bought it for the colour. I am disappointed in its functionality though. Once it is boiling it keeps boiling for longer than necessary, and you cannot remove it until it is finished or it will continue trying to boil when you put it back on the base. Also, you have to wait up to 15 minutes to re-boil it! Mine is currently in the repair shop (under warranty hopefully) as the on button won't stay on at all. It's been well used but I've only had it 11 months.

Once the water reaches boiling point, the kettle continues to boil for between 45 secs and a full minute. There is no 'on/off' switch, which would let you turn it off yourself, so the only option is to take it off its base or switch it off at the mains. The problem with the first is that it thinks its still switched on when you put it back on its base. The problem with both is that you have to stand by to turn it off, unless you are happy with a kitchen filled with steam. Bodum (Italy) tested it and said it was normal. When I asked Bodum UK if this was normal for this kettle generally, they refused to deal with my query, as it had been bought in Italy.

And all this from a kettle that arrived with an 'I save energy' sticker on it!

Gets one star for looking sexy.

I love the colour, the size, and the shape of the kettle. It is not very noisy when boiling water. Unfortunately the plastic handle gets split (with normal daily usage only) and the switch wouldn't turn itself off after water hits the boiling point (we have to manually switch it off). This happened after we had it for 4 months! I would expect a longer lasting quality for the price - not cheap for a kettle.

Great kettle functionally but it's not the same green as the Bodum Knif Block Bodum Bistro Knife Block, Lime Green which is a shame as I bought it to match. I much prefer the matt finish of the knife block but the kettle is a very cheap looking glossy plastic so it went back I'm afraid and replaced it with a simple stainless number which I would recommend. Kenwood SJM100 Moda Kettle, Stainless Steel

Because people buy Bodum for the style as much as functionality, I can only give it 3 stars.

As I already owned the rest of the Bodum coffee range, I picked up this kettle when I moved to a new place. The first issue was the switch, you can't turn it off once you've switched it on. Why they thought this was a good idea is beyond me. Another small issue was the color. It was close to the colors used on the other products in the range, but not a match. A few months down the road the bottom of the kettle where it contacts the charge base just fell apart. I contacted Bodum to see if I could get a replacement part, they told me to enjoy my broken kettle. I'm never buying anoth Bodum product again.
