I leave mine sitting on the oven top so it's always well warmed through. Thanks to the removable plunger system the tea can be perfectly brewed and then left until needed, or more likely, immediately drunk. If left somewhere warm the tea is piping hot and well brewed for as long as you can wait. The pot has a virtually airtight silicon seal around the plunger system, this helps to retain the heat. This unfortunately, is also it's only weak point, the seal is prone to tearing. This will not affect the pots operation, but it does need to be resolved by Bodum.

Teapot with plunger 3 May 2009
    By Karen Ferguson VINE™ VOICE
Saw the .5L version in shop but not big enough so went for this larger version - reason being that unlike most cast iron teapots it has plunger so you can remove leaves from tea easily when brewed. enamelled inside to prevent rusting and the filter easily removes for cleaning. Heavy of course but I knew that before buying. Very nice looking too.

Finding have to steep for a long time to get flavor 23 Feb 2011
By Samuel Freedman - Published on Amazon.com
I find with the bodum tea infusers I have to steep for a longer time to get the full flavor out of the tea. I only drink black teas so no problems with temperature. Before I had this unit I was just putting loose tea in a pot and infused and then stained into a teapot. I love the look and ease of use. Yet how long should it take to steep 5 cups of black tea? I find if I don't do for at least 15 minutes too weak. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know it is working as the caffeine from the tea is keeping me awake. Maybe I am doing something wrong?

Please, if anyone has suggestions let me know.

this cast iron tea press is not as heavy as expected. i love the look and i love the heat retention. just follow the instructions on the amount of water to put in the pot so it won't dribble when you pour. brews my white tea to perfection! remember to keep it dry when not in use. this cast iron tea press will last a life time -- waaay better than the glass bodum tea press.
