Product Description

Size: 8 Cup

Product Description

The classic French press coffee maker designed in the fifties, and still produced it with the same painstaking craftsmanship used way back when with the original. The frame and lid, made of steel, undergo several chrome plating processes to obtain a durable shiny surface that will last after intense use. The only difference in the production process since the fifties is the commitment to the highest standards of environmentally correct manufacturing, which is especially important during the chrome plating process. The black Chambord Polypropylene handle comes in a matte finish that not only gives a comfortable grip while serving but adds to the classic quality of the design. The French press system has always been the simplest and ultimate way of brewing an ideal cup of coffee.

Manufacturer's Description

When Bodum took over a small clarinet factory in Normandy in 1982. It was not because of the fine orchestra clarinets they were producing but because of a relatively unknown coffee maker called the Chambord which they, by coincidence, produced as well. We combined the skills of these Normandy craftsmen with modern production, and the price became affordable to the many people who loved the taste of the coffee brewed in this unique coffee maker, later known as the French press coffee brewer. Thanks to Bodum and thanks to the increasing need for better coffee, the French press coffee maker became one of the most popular coffeemakers in the world. The design has not changed a bit from the original drawings, and we still make the Chambord with the same painstaking care and knowledge we learned from those proud craftsmen in windy Normandy.

I've had one of these for years and its never broken. Recently my other half took ours to work so I brought a new one. I have to say I really enjoy the taste using this a French press cafetière. I don't bother using the correct glasses, so this makes two large cups of coffee for me. The second one is much cooler but I found that if I boiled the kettle first and poured it into the the cafetière while I waited for the kettle to boil again for my coffee, this was sufficient enough to keep the second cup hot. In cold weather an added tea cosy does the trick. Of course you don't have to do this at all, it just depends on how much the second cooler cup bothers you, but it's how I deal with it.

I'm wondering if there is such a thing as a Bodum cosy for those cool winter nights? Because, I don't know about you, but my tea cosy is just that little bit too small for my Bodum and sits on top of it looking very awkward. If there isin't one on the market, there should be!

Excellent coffee maker plus looks good on shelf when not in use.
Makes 1 average size mug of coffee, would recommend using 1 measuring spoon of coffee per cup.

My girlfriend had wanted a Bodum for a while but had very specific ideas about what it should look like (there being many different types). She found this one on Amazon for significantly less than the high street and placed her order.

It arrived with Amazon Prime's usual quick delivery and in perfect condition. It's considerably bigger than we thought it would be and makes enough for 4 mugs (rather than 4 cups) which has worked out well when we're entertaining. If you plan to make a decent size mug of coffee for more than 2 people this is the one you want.

Would 100% recommend this product and its purchase through Amazon.

Very happy!

I bought this as some collegues in the office also use them and the coffee in liquid form that they produce tastes so much better than just out the tub! This is because ground coffee keeps all the oils rather than disguarding them like dehydrated coffee!

Anyway, the size is just perfect for my needs, enough to share with a friend and not too big that I would struggle to lug it around!

The quailty and finnish is pefect and after a few uses I can see that this one will stay with me for a while with out fault!

Bravo Bodum, Awesome!

Make sure to grind coarse, rinse every time with water (no soap) follow the instructions and you will have great coffee every time. It renders stronger than drip and a lot lighter than espresso, almost like a shop bought black americano. It misses a star because no matter what grind you use you always get residue in your cup

This is a very good cafetiere.

The capacity: It can certainly fill 8 espresso cups, the little ones. If you want to go for standard mugs, or breakfast cups, you'll have just over 2 units of either mug or cup. The choice is yours!

It is very unlikely the glass can brake because of a temperature shock, as it is special glass for this kind of circumstances. This is different if the glass is brutally manipulated or if there are strong strikes from within when spooning the coffee in the (just under)boiling water before waiting for 3 minutes and pressing.

When pressing the coffee, do not rush to pour it and wait a few minutes for the coffee to set and avoid the "mud" at the bottom of the cup.

Another way to avoid that "mud" is to grind the beans yourself on a coarse setting, so that the ground is not too fine. The ordinary ground coffee tends to be too fine for cafetiere (better for filter).

If not in a rush to drink the whole cafetiere, and worried about the coffee cooling, you can always use a teapot cover. It works really well to keep the coffee warm. Another way is to use a camping thermos bottle.

This is a lovely looking French Press coffee maker and holds enough coffee for about 5 large mugs. I bought it as a Christmas present for my sister as she needed a new larger coffee maker and she loved it. It was exactly the size she was looking for as she wanted something she could get more than 2 cups of coffee from. The shiny stainless steel makes it look more elegant than the plastic coffee makers out there.
