Product Description

Product Description

Bob is feeling glum. His friends Billy and Sam are off visiting a pet show on Pluto, there are no space tourists to entertain, and Bob is bored. What he needs is a best-ever friend, to help him with intergalactic missions and jigsaw puzzles -- but, being Bob, he doesn't seem to notice the potential furry friend who is begging for his attention! This edition also includes the greatest glow-in-the-dark poster in the galaxy.

My daughter (aged 4) loves this book, along with the other books we have by Simon Bartram - "Man on the Moon (a day in the life of Bob)" and "Dougal's Deep Sea Diary". I love these books too. The stories are utterly charming with their tales of the uncomplicated and innocent lives of their characters, accompanied by the beautiful illustrations. This book continues the story of Bob, the man who looks after the moon each day (it's only a 15 minute flight from Earth each way in his space ship!). One day Bob is on the moon and has finished his daily tasks and realises he is lonely. The book goes on to tell the story of how he goes in search of a best friend and finds a very unexpected one. As I mentioned the illustrations in these books are wonderful. You can pause again and again to look at them and notice new details missed on previous reads, as my daughter and I love doing!

I'd say a read through this book takes between 5-15 minutes depending on how much time you want to spend admiring the pictures and discussing the story with your child.

I highly recommend this book.

Good quality book 2 July 2010
By Jen
Format:Paperback
I decided to buy this book for my 7yo who had just finished reading "the disappearing moon" by the same author as a pocket book. I was a bit disappointed as i did not realise the book would be so big. The book is very nice looking, good colours etc... but not much to read as a bed time book for a 7yo. Would recommend perhaps for younger children.

a great follow up to Man On The Moon. Our daughter loved the book and enjoys looking for the bouncing dog and the man with blue hair. lovely story for older children, great visual story for younger children.
