By The Country Grumpkin VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD
This is another collection of songs from Bobby's Mercury recordings made during 1970-1972 - with the addition of Tequila Sheila, another Shel Silverstein song which I first heard on on 1980's Down And Dirty album - and is an odd release at that. It is basically the 14 songs from the For The Good Times album (see my review of that album for further details) - even in the same running order - with the addition of just 2 songs: Music City USA, which Bobby co-wrote with Billy Joe Shaver, and the above-mentioned Tequila Sheila.
Bobby could always be relied on for a great selection of songs, which these were at the time, but some of them sound pretty dated now.
The album runs to just under 50 minutes, which is good value, but a selection of different songs from the Mercury years would have been welcome and provided better value.
All the songs are available on Bear Family compilations.
