Have used the book for various techniques to do with bobbin lace. however I do not think I could work from the book without having been to bobbin lace classes.

A Solid, Classic Book for Your Lace-Library 14 Oct. 2014
By S. Duck - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This was the first book that I got, I believe, when I started bobbin lace as a teenager in the 1980s. (Back then everything was slow mail-order and most people had to make their own pillows & even bobbins.) I still have this book, and I think it's a good book for basic technique. I DO think there may be books that contain more up-to-date info about resources, or about different types of lace, but this is still a good book to learn some simple techniques without being overwhelmed by some very fine edging that takes 80 pairs of bobbins and extremely fine thread. I would definitely have this book in my lace-library, if nothing else than for the patterns for simple plaited laces that would be good for even a child-beginner.
