5.0 out of 5 stars The ultimate fruit book!, 22 Jun 2001
By A Customer
This is a truly excellent book. Each fruit is given good coverage, with recommendations as to variety and culture advice. It is also extensive in the range of fruits which are covered. There's even a few recipes thrown in. If you want to grow any sort of fruit then go for this book.

Purchased several books about fruit growing and found RHS Guide more detailed and better planned out.Big fan of Bob's so slightly dissappointed. His book on companion planting however is excellent, a must for the organic grower.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a complete guide by any means..., 10 Aug 2010
Have had this book a while now and although it's nice to look at and seems to cover most of the fruit varieties a gardener would like to grow, it is very lacking in the detail I would have thought a book with the term "complete" in the title ought to cover. For example, the pest and disease information for each fruit is extremely limited: simply a short paragraph with very little information. If you are trying to discover what is wrong with your fruit trees then don't bother looking here. I had to search the internet to discover that the orange spots on my pear tree were (rust) in spite of owning this book. Apparently it's a fairly common problem with pears but wasn't even mentioned in Bob's book. In future I'll stick with my trusty "Fruit Expert" by Dr D G Hessayon. It may not look so pretty, but really is more of a complete guide than this book.
