The amount of research and interviews that must have taken place to complete this book is mind boggling- a true labour of love for Dylan's music. Comprehensive and always interesting- but Heylin's own authorial voice is too opinionated for my taste, proclaiming his interpretation of bob's life as 'right' and he even takes to doing down other biographers (notably Scaduto and Shelton) for apparent 'wrong' information in their books! That said- this book covers ground such as Dylan's born-again christianity far better than any other biography i've read, and the method of interspersing the narrative with indented quotes makes it very easy to read. Highly recommended.
