Bob Bibby was brought up and went to school in Wolverhampton. After university, he taught English in schools in the West Midlands before becoming a school inspector and later a part-time teacher at the University of Birmingham. He now divides his time between homes in Crete and in south Shropshire, where he devotes himself to writing. He is married and has two grown-up daughters.
At various times he has been a bus conductor, a scout leader, a folk singer, a football team manager, a parish councillor, a cross-country runner, a skiffle group leader, a crossword compiler, and an actor. His writing includes literary fiction, crime fiction, travel narratives and walking guides. When not sampling Real Ales, he is an accomplished speaker.
