A useful book to have if you are into boat building. However, it's written entirely for the US market so all sources, materials and suppliers are US based. A better book from a solely UK perspective is Richard Birmingham's 'Boat Building Techniques Illustrated' ISBN 0713676213 or John Leather's pricey paperback 'Clinker Boatbuilding'.

A very nice book. I like how deep into the details they went in. I'd prefer to have received color pictures inside.
The links, provided inside offer even further exploration into the world of boating in general. Recommend it to everyone who needs to understand the basics.

A well written and comprehensive book. As a novice (to boat building) this book has avoided too much jargon and explains things clearly and concisely. It provides not only an overview of different building methods but detail enough of each method to allow the user to assess which one to use if unsure. It is written by an American but this does not appear to be a drawback for the British market with the possible exception of timber preferences. Again as a novice I am not sure how significant this is. I certainly feel well informed enough. The layouts and diagrams are also mostly clear and easy to understand.
