As we all know by know, this was one of the biggest hits of the Summer of 2014. The chorus has an infectious hook and Pharrell Williams's usual creamy smooth vocals blend well with Robin Thicke's deeper tones. A great dance track, perfect to liven up any house party and to get your guests shaking their hips. The video is great too, particularly the "uncut" version which you can still view on YouTube, featuring the delectable Emily Ratajkowski. If you haven't seen her yet, the R rated version of the video would probably be of considerable interest to most men. Robin Thicke has tried to argue, lamentably, that the video is not sexist or misogynisitc, and that it is meant to be ironic. Yeah, right. If that were really the case, why did he have a 10 out of 10 model like Emily dancing topless, rather than a woman who looks like a female Russian shot-putter whose overdone the steroids and male hormones? That said, this review is about the song, the only weakness really is the silliness of the lyrics, but it is still the sort of great tune to get the toes tapping.

A great catchy tune, which reminds me of early beat box days! Deserves to be a number one record. Pharrel has always been a class act.

Anyone who identifies as a feminist certainly doesn't seem to like this song, they seem to want to rid the world of this sort of lyrical material about the whole sexual conquest mentality by males but to my mind the sexual politics behind the messages in this song doesn't stop it being an admittedly pretty fun pop song, especially music production wise, it was certainly fun enough to become the number 1 selling single of 2013 in the UK. Anyone who thinks that the song is somehow a rape song does seem to be rather extreme in their analysis of something that just feels as if it's quite a throwaway premise at the end of the day, it amounts to little more than a song constructed around the clubbing culture where young people go to hook up that is starting to feel as old as time itself.
Luckily radio stations in the UK such as BBC Radio 1, Bauer's Key 103 and Heart are not controlled by the political correctness that so called "feminazis" seem to desire, and you can indulge in this by buying this song from Amazon against their wishes on that score too!

Purchased for my husband. I actually dislike this track very much, & think the lyrics are offensive. Nevertheless, my husband really likes listening to it, and thinks it's excellent. Hence the rating.
