3.0 out of 5 stars Not really a Bluffers Guide, 1 Feb 2010
By

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Bluffer's Guide to Rugby (Bluffer's Guides) (Paperback)
There are some Bluffers Buides (e.g. Whisky) which give you pointers for making it seem like you know more than you do, by providing a little background and some suggested verbal cul-de-sacs with which to sidetrack your conversational partner. Not so The Bluffers Buide to Rugby. Humorous certainly, but it doesn't really hint at when a particular gambit/phrase can be used. It's more a collection of witty asides for people already in the know about Rugby.

1.0 out of 5 stars A waste of time, 1 Mar 2010
This review is from: The Bluffer's Guide to Rugby (Bluffer's Guides) (Paperback)
I expected this book would contain an overview of rugby's rule rules and strategy, perhaps a bit of history and a mention of notable players' contribution to the sport - the sort of thing that would let me bluff a passing acquaintance with the game. Instead, it is mainly a tedious list of in-jokes about the different positions on a rugby side. This book is a waste of the couple of hours spent reading it. The fact that their editors put it in print means I won't be bothering with any more books from "Bluffers Guide".
