What You Need To Know 15 Nov 2006
By Cary E. Mansfield - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Bluest Eyes showcases the commanding vocals of Malford Milligan, fronting STORYVILLE, an amazing all-star band (all native Texans) who originally came together at Antone's Nightclub in Austin, TX. Bassist Tommy Shannon and drummer Chris Layton played in Stevie Ray Vaughan's Double Trouble and The Arc Angels. Rhythm guitarist David Grissom played in Joe Ely's backing band.
Produced by guitarist STEPHEN BRUTON (Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, T Bone Burnett). Bluest Eyes won six awards at the 1995 Austin Music Awards, including Best Band and Best Single. The album was rated highly in mainstream publications upon its initial release. This album has been out of print for over six years and has become highly sought-after. This CD reissue features the original album art, and includes new liner notes.

Excellent Storyville Debut 14 May 2003
By J. R Sategna - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This CD is a very overlooked 1st album by this great blues rock band. I would rank it up with there with their other releases and better than their latest. Excellent vocals-excellent songwriting and of course-the great guitar playing-this album is out of print so I suggest you try to get it where you can-you can't afford to miss it if you love blues rock with great lyrics and great guitar playing- excellent romantic rock songs.

great BLUES / ROCK 9 Jan 2004
By HANS D HARMS - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
As one might expect from an all star line up like this one, this is one hot CD. It leans more towards ROCK than BLUES and delivers on all counts. The vocals of MALFORD MILLIGAN are worth the price alone, add to that the hottest rythm section in ROCK and you're on a winner. From the brilliant 'BLUEST EYES' to the definitive versions of 'MERCY STREET' and 'IF LOVING YOU IS WRONG' there is not one dud track. This is BLUES / ROCK at its best. Despite being very radio friendly, it is challenging, at times heart wrenching but never dull or predictable.
