Audioquest long famous for their superb hifi interconnects organised these wonderful Blues recordings.
Throught the Golden Ear Triton 2 loudspeakers the performers leap forward in three dimensional glory.
Seek out these recording and the speakers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best ever. 28 Mar 2014
By Kaj S
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This SACD is a direkt transfer from the original analog stereo master tape to dsd. Everything here was recorded live, directly to 2 track analog master tape at 30 ips. It sounds absolutely amazing. Drums have that almost scary power that can only be achieved with an uncompressed recording. This recording is an old audioquest recording. I think most audiophiles agree with me when I say that: "They don't make them like this no more". The ownership of the old audioquest master tapes, seems to have been transferred to valley-entertainment. So far, they have released 11 SACD:s. I have bought most of them. They are all good. So valley-entertainment, what are you waiting for? Get more of them out there now. There is an old cd, that I have, called: Blues Masters. If you release that on SACD I will buy it.
Last but not least, thank you for releasing this disc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stumbled Across Previous Reviews 30 Dec 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I have just discovered SACD's and decided to trawl through Amazon's huge list of items on offer. I only decided to buy this SACD on previous reviews left and boy am I glad I did.

I love Blues music and all of the artists on this SACD I have never heard of, but they are great.

The quality is great, the music is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Technical demo of SACD versatility 20 Nov 2002
By Nick Salsamestro - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This album is probably the best SACD recording released to-date. The air around musicians and instruments is simply jaw-dropping; it'll startle you from track 1's Get Up, Get Ready by Terry Evans. By the time you reach track 4 - Too Proud by Mighty Sam McClain, you'll probably be too drowned by the technical perfection of this disc and you'll be having goosebumps already. If you still manage to get to track 9 - 50 Pounds of Bone by Robert Lucas, you may be at the pinnacle of musical orgasm to the point of almost getting emotionally disturbed. I swear there was a moment when I can almost see Mr. Lucas inside the room! Down to the decay of the last note on the last track, when everything suddenly becomes dead silent, it'll take you about 2 minutes to realize that you are only in your room.
Gentlemen -- this is the epitome of SACD brilliance. If you still don't have an SACD player, then for Chrissakes, this disc is reason enough to buy one! Of course, to get optimum satisfaction, you'll need to partner it with good hi-fi and sadly, it ain't cheap... But hey, life is too short, we must enjoy every second of it! And music is one of life's greatest pleasures. (No, I'm not trying to justify my hi-fi investments!)
Don't mind the [money] price that comes with this disc - it's still a steal! Bravo to Audioquest for their efforts in producing this disc. Keep 'em coming, guys!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Music. Very Good Recording. 29 Nov 2000
By "jw03" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Samplers can often be a mixed bag of tricks. But, without any fancy words or technical descriptions, I will simply say this Audio Quest Sampler is "ALL GOOD". The music is absolutley super and is one of the finest examples of "real" blues I have had the pleasure of listening to and just enjoying. So, pop this CD in a good player, pour yourself a nice drink, sit back and enjoy some of the finest blues you can put in your home. Thank God for the Bluesman.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Blues Collection 4 May 2004
By W. Draeger - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I bought this CD based on Nelson Cabatingan's review and want to say I believe he could not have been more correct in his assessment. I might add that, as well as being a technically perfect recording, the music is really great. If you like blues, you should own this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great music, superlative sound quality 8 May 2004
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Finally, a SACD with sound quality worthy of the format. N.B.: I can only comment on the 2-channel stereo performance, not the 5.1, because my system is only 2-channel capable. Rest assured, however, that it is of sufficient quality to be definitive for 2-channel audio (custom headphone amplifier, Grado headphones).
I have other good-sounding SACD's as well: Billy Joel "The Stranger", Norah Jones "Come Away With Me", Buena Vista Social Club (DVD-A) as well as other not so great sounding SACD's and DVD-A's. IMO, BluesQuest is the best sounding musical disc (SACD, DVD-A, or CD) I've ever heard with one of the best track lineup top-to-bottom of blues songs on one compilation. Robert Lucas' "50 Lbs of Bone" on Track 9 is simply a gem. Such delicious humour and good music all in one song. And you can't go wrong with Mighty Sam McClain. His Track 4 "Too Proud" is almost too good.
Highly recommended for any blues-loving audiophile.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good performances, excellent sonics 30 Dec 2006

The first and last tunes are fantastic, the others good performances. Unlike most audiophile discs that sound great but have crappy music, this one succeeds on both accounts.
