This album is worth every penny,it is full of quality tracks from some of the best known names in the history of Black music.My favorite is Maggies Farm-Solomon Burke,the more the cd is played the better it gets, anyone who likes Blues & Soul should buy this cd now!!!

worth every penny - a superb compilation of tunes I knew and some I didn't....and some I knew sung by other artists. A killer from start to finish, haven't heard Polk Salad Annie for yonks!! You got 2 killers from Tony Joe White, 2 from Wislon Pickett, 2 from Don Covay, a cover of Help Me (sounding alot like Gloria) and covers of some rock classics by some Blues and Soul greats.
Oh, and Aretha covering the Weight for which I have the original backing track with Duanne Allman on vinyl but set off brilliantly with her vocals.
20 tracks of sheer joy if you really appreciate how the Blues and Soul artists of the late 60's and early 70's reinterpreted rock music. Buy it.

this cd is by far one of the best i know, it is what it says on the tin, blues and soul, if you love soul music this is for you.
