An excellent beginning blues guitar rhythm manual 26 Oct 2009
By MusicTeacherCA - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Keith Wyatt writes excellent books and this one is no exception. This would be a good book for a near-beginner who wants to learn basic blues rhythms on the guitar.

The instructions are concise and thorough without being too wordy. The accompanying CD matches the written material and helps the student hear the written parts.

A very nice feature is the explanation of triplets as compared to straight (one-and-two-and) time. This explanation of the division of the beat is vital information for all emerging blues guitarists.

This book is a good starting place for blues rhythm books. After or with this book, I would recommend also Larry McCabe's 101 Razor-Sharp Blues Guitar Rhythm Patterns, and after that McCabe's most impressive and comprehensive Complete Rhythm Guide for Blues Bands.

Great book, blues and a bit of theory 6 Feb 2012
By David A. Resendez - Published on Amazon.com

If you want to play the blues, this book will get you started. If you only get halfway through, you'll still be able to play the blues. This is a rhythm book, but without the rhythm you've got nothing on the blues. A good foundation of blues rhythm will help you with your soloing as well. The book is really easy to understand and I felt like I had my own personal instructor the entire time I was working with it. No blues book that I've worked with comes even close to this one.

Just what I was looking for. 18 Feb 2011

I really like this book and what it has offered by blues playing. I have been using John Ganapes' books in conjunction with this book and it has given me additional rhythm ideas. The CDs are very helpful. I thing Keith Wyatt is a good teacher and he has included some understandable, yet challenging lessons in this book. I highly recommend it for beginning blues players.

Perfect book for any serious blues guitar player 2 Dec 2012
By Mikey D - Published on Amazon.com

I have been playing blues guitar for just about 5 years now. I am preparing to go to my first blues jam. As far as soloing is concerned, I am a beginner as you would expect, having only played for a few years. It is what it is, and I will do my best. However, when it is my turn to play the accompaniment, I am very concerned that I might mess others up or play the same old chords over and over again and even bore myself. Since I will spend most of my time playing chords at these blues jams, I thought it would be good to get a book like this one, so I ordered it. What a fantastic book. I even took it to my guitar instructor, who within 30 seconds was very impressed. I highly recommend this book. I am not versed in guitar/music enough to blab on about it in a technical matter, but just as well, it is awesome!!! I think that I should be fine at the jam within a month or two after using this book. Examples are good, explanations are adequate, and the fingerings also help. Great book.....

Superb Instruction !! 26 Feb 2010
By UBG - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
First I bought Rubin's book, The Art of the Shuffle. That's not bad.
On the other hand, this book is superb. The tracks are amazing-great sound quality
and examples for the student to emulate. This book is at the top of the heap.
I rarely review these things...seriously......buy this book. I'm really glad I did.
