4.0 out of 5 stars A must for all fans of acoustic blues... 19 May 2012
By os TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Audio CD
'Blues Hoot' is an intimate live recording from 1961 of those three amiable but energetic Blues titans Lightnin' Hopkins, Brownie McGee and Sonny Terry playing a selection of acoustic blues and gospel to an enthusiastic audience of admirers. This album is an end to end blast, but if I had to pick out a few favorites then I would go for 'Right on the Shore' a lovely piece of righteous gospel , 'Down by the Riverside' a rousing version as you'll ever hear and the classic blues of 'Trouble in Mind' and 'Walk On'. Together these tracks make this well recorded album , as the title says, a real 'hoot'!

4.0 out of 5 stars Concert from the folk revival era 8 April 2000
By J. Melartin - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I have listened to this for 25 years now, and always come back to it. The CD consists of Lightnin solo, Sonny and Brownie together, and then all 3 jamming together. Lightnin tells stories to the responsive crowd and is in good form. Sonny and Brownie take you back to a real country feel --the harp playing is wild. Overall I'd give this 5 stars, but then what would I give to each artist's other gems? Sound is excellent by the way -highly recommended!
