I ordered this BlueNEXT51 Channel Bluetooth GPS to pair with my Blackberry Curve 8320 in order to use the Google Maps software. The device was instantly recognisable to the Blackberry, and paired within 15 seconds of start-up.

It took a few minutes to acquire the satellite signals the first time it was started, but on subsequent start ups, GPS acquisition has been really quick, and to be fair, perfectly adequate for such a small device.

I have been amazed at it's positional accuracy too, compared to my old 12 channel Garmin device, this device is bang on the crosshairs every time.

I have now used this in both heavily forested areas, and urban situations with lots of concrete and steel, and have been really pleased with it's ability to acquire and maintain a lock. Battery life is good and certainly not a cause for concern. If you are after a bluetooth compatible GPS, then for the money this is spot on! No reason not to purchase it.

On the basis of a good review saying it worked with a BlackBerry model I ordered it. The listing is however not accurate since from the BlueNEXT website you can identify the model shown as BN-805GR but I received a BN-901S which is all black. Possibly a higher spec model but it most certainly does not work with a current BlackBerry. If you delve into the FAQs on the Blue NEXT website you find they say their Bluetooth GPSes only support Windows and Symbian devices. However their support which is almost useless just blames the BB map software. In fact I have purchased a Keyring Bluetooth GPS 200 which works perfectly with a BB 8520. I have pointed out to the supplier that the entry on Amazon should be updated with the correct info as to model and compatibility. Let us see. BlueNEXT 51 Channel Bluetooth GPS receiver. Worked first time with BlueNext's tiny USB BT dongle in the laptop, and works with my SE M600i. Gets a signal anywhere and battery life is amazing. The 4 star rating is only for techies: the manual is crap, so if you want to do clever things with it you need to be a detective. Start by downloading GpsView off the BlueNext website. If you are not a geek and just want a GPS that works - get it.

Great little device. Works perfectly with Nokia N95 8gb. I use it with Garmin gps software on Nokia and also Wegolf gps software on Nokia. Much better accuracy with this device than just using phone's built in gps receiver. Finds gps signal on power up and bluetooth connection is very easy. The only drawback is it doesn't come with a mains charger, only a car charger. The only reason it doesn't get top marks.

Bought this external GPS receiver to use with the excellent Viewranger OS mapping software on my Nokia N95. I was getting fed up waiting up to 10 mins before starting a walk waiting for the internal GPS to locate my position but in fairness once it had a fix the internal GPS seems OK but you have to have the phone slide open as the internal GPS in under the keyboard. Not any more !

The BN-905GR locates your position within seconds and pairs with the N95 instantly. Just remember to enable the Bluetooth GPS positioning methods on your phone as I don't think its enabled by default. You might as well disable the internal GPS while you're at it. The settings are found under Tools, Setting, General, Positioning, Positioning methods.

Fantastic piece of kit at a great price. Very highly recommended.

The unit arrived within a few days. It is very neat and had clear instructions for charging and pairing the bluetooth connection.

The description on Amazon was slightly confusing, as it only lists compatability with some Smartphones, with no mention of use with a PC. In practice, it works very well with the PC, provided the navigation software used with it can select the right COM port.

Older PCs with 9 pin serial connections usually allocated COM port numbers 1 - 4. USB connections are mapped to COM ports, often in the 5 - 8 range. If the navigation software cannot select these numbers, you cannot connect. Use Device Manager to view the USB connections and find which COM port has been allocated.

Once charged and connected, the receiver proved very responsive. Initial cold start location was a couple of minutes, but thereafter, it provided a high data rate, which updated the Course Over Ground almost the instant a turn was started.

I have only used the unit for a short time so far, but the size, weight, appearance and operation have been impressive.

A super piece of hardware which has breathed new life and functionality into my Pocket PC (Hermes 200).

About the size of a small matchbox and weighs about the same, it will give on road resolutions down to about 5 to 10 metres.

No need for sophisticated drivers or set up, just charge the integrated battery pack and switch on for instant satellite reception. Couldn't be more simple!

I installed TomTom Navigator 6 onto my Pocket PC and set up the Bluetooth comm's with Com Ports 4 and 5 as communiction ports. Once activated, the phone paired with the BlueNext satellite device in about 3 seconds and was immediately translating into map references and perfect SAT-NAV.

Beauty is with my Pocket PC and this tiny satellite receiver, I can also use it on my bike and for walking. Gone is the need for compass and map, this combination of phone and BlueNext give perfect functionality for a fraction of the price of dedicated hardware/software combinations. Battery lasts upto 25 hours plus of continuous reception, which use is only limited by the duration of the charge left in my Pocket PC! I have got about 6 hours of functional use from the two working together whilst walking over the Stretton Hills, so is plenty for even prolonged walking. As for car use, well, this is of course infinite as the device comes with a 12v car auxillary connector for recharging the BlueNext device. Fortunately, my phone uses the same mini-USB interface so that also lasts forever.

Recommended purchase, despite me being notoriously hard to please!
