My desk was a rat's nest. Period. Laptop power cord, monitor cable, iPod connection cable, keyboard cable, USB hub cable, wacom tablet cable, printer USB and power cables...see where I'm going with this?
'Cable Drops' let you pick a neat and direct path across a surface for your wires and consolidate them for a MUCH cleaner look. At max, each will hold about 4 standard gauge USB cables - OR - 1 larger gauge multi-pin cable + 1 smaller USB cable. They come with their own "peel n' stick" adhesive pads on the back and they hold on tight where they're placed. NOTE: there is a cautionary note on the packaging that warns "prolonged use of adhesive plates on sensitive surfaces may cause marking" - so maybe you'll want to think twice about sticking these to painted walls or the like.
My one small gripe is this: I chose the white color of this product - which has a hard, rubbery (yet slightly pliable), matte finish. The way this product is packaged from the manufacturer leaves each of the little pods exposed - Perfect for whatever tactile connection a potential buyer might experience when this product is displayed at a traditional brick and mortar outlet. Also, UNFORTUNATELY PERFECT for sucking up all the dingy dirt inside of a packing carton where they've been bouncing around and rubbing against the other items you've ordered from Amazon that have all been sitting around a dusty warehouse / storeroom for god knows how long. LONG STORY SHORT, my "white" Cable Drops showed up a dingy greyish / tan color. I'm going to give them a rubdown with some sort of cleanser at some point and possibly update this posting, but for now, they're dirty. This product IS available in black, so that may be a more practical, if not less "clean, modern, trendy-white" option.
All-in-all: if you're looking for a clean, easy, modern way to route your cables across hard unpainted surfaces where drilling holes is not an option, these are pretty nifty!
