Product Description

Product Description

Pop icon Adam Ant is making his eagerly-awaited comeback with his first album and single in 17 years, a world tour and a film. The national treasure, who rose to fame as lead singer of post-punk group Adam and the Ants in the early 80s, before embarking on a hit solo career, earned ten UK top ten hits - including three number ones - and became a figurehead for the New Romantic movement in the UK. Ant is one of the few British artists to replicate his success on the other side of the Atlantic, with a string of best-selling albums and an ever-swelling fan base in America, where he was nominated for a Best New Artist Grammy; enjoyed three top 20 hits on the Billboard Top 100 and appeared on NBC s Motown Special with Michael Jackson. Antmania swept the nation, with Stand and Deliver hitting the number one spot for five weeks and winning Ant an Ivor Novello; album Kings of the Wild Frontier earning him a Best British Album BRIT Award; Prince Charming rocketing straight to number one and a further 12 singles making the top 30. At one point, he had an incredible eight singles in the Top 40 in one week. And this is why in 2008, he followed in Sir Paul McCartney s footsteps, by being presented with the Q Music Icon Award. He even excelled in a career in acting, which saw him appear in the theatrical production of Joe Orton s Entertaining Mr Sloane, a string of films, such as Nomads, Love Bites and Slam Dance and TV shows including The Equalizer, Tales from the Crypt and Sledge Hammer. After overcoming a well-documented battle with depression and bi-polar disorder, the London legend has finally bounced back with the eagerly-awaited album - Adam Ant is The Blueblack Hussar In Marrying The Gunner s Daughter. His first single in 17 years, Cool Zombie will be fully released on November 19th - and the album will be released in on Monday 21st January. The release will be supported by new movie, The Blueblack Hussar, produced by The Klaxons bassist Jamie Reynolds. Ant and his latest incarnation, Adam Ant and The Good, the Mad and the Lovely Posse are also taking in a sell-out tour of America, fresh from their successful tour of Australia. A full UK tour gets underway on 1st November in Glasgow and ends up in London on 30th November at a sold out Shepherds Bush Empire.
