5.0 out of 5 stars Blue Wave an Emerald Gem for Gaye Delorme 20 May 2002
By dale caudwell - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
From the opening riffs of J.J. Cales "Downtown L.A.", the only cover tune on an otherwise original material CD, you are treated to an under-rated musical gem. The fast paced guitar and vocal remind you a little of a Mark Knoffler/Dire Straits arrangement until "Sailor Sailor" weaves its melodic intro to your ears and your catapulted to a south seas island adventure. This Gaye Delorme has a little variety in his delivery and after digesting the first two tunes, "Thin Man" rocks its way on with an injection of jazz. Am I listening to a diamond in the rough? Hardly, he's been around for years.(See Editors review)
The rest of the CD plays and I'm treated to "Lucy from Lima", a bouncy Latina style song, "Hallelujah", a simple ballad with Gaye growling his unique vocal style. "Fast Horizon", "Bahai" and "Hoo Doo Trail" rip it up and the only sad thing is that there aren't more tracks. If you enjoy this CD, Try his Flamenco style efforts on "Borderline". Both are great listening discs.
