Book Description

Katie Walken has been running most of her life—from her Amish upbringing, from her family’s expectations, and from an arranged marriage to Karl Borg. Now a real estate agent, Katie feels she finally has the life she always wanted. . .or does she?

Karl lost his love when she fled from their future in Amish country. Leaving home, too, he became an attorney. But his heart remains with Katie.

When Katie and Karl are reunited, they seem to have a second chance at love. Will they allow God to help them face their past while looking toward their future?

5.0 out of 5 stars A nice Easy Read 26 Jun. 2014

I read this on the Kindle

I had not read any of this authors books before & while yes this is in the Amish Genre it not a full Amish story like some but not fully a Englisher Romance

This is about Katie & she runs away from her Amish family & roots also from Karl who she is going to marry

12 years later they meet up & in true fiction style they still have a thing but when her dad is taken ill she goes home to see him he passes away & Karl is there to not only pay his respect but for her

But then on returning to the city something happens which could break them apart (won't say what as don't wish to spoil it for you)

This was a easy going read but you still wanted to read it to see what happens if they get together do they both or one of them go back to being Amish or will the English world be too much & keep them there

4.0 out of 5 stars Christian Love Story 25 Mar. 2013
By Barbara Dorothy - Published on

Katie and Karl are reunited in the English world after twelve years away from their Amish community. Now they are professionals, and a business situation brings Karl to Katie's office. I liked the flow of the story, and the ending is not how most Amish fiction authors end their books. For readers who read Christian books, I would recommend this book. I am giving the story four stars because of one sentences in the book that I believe was missed during proofing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creative enjoyable book 22 Mar. 2013

I just finished reading "Out of the Blue" and I am not sure whether my tears or smiles won while they competed with each other. Sometimes the tears were happy tears so it is really hard to say what won.

This is a very creative story about two people, whom both were Amish at one point, desiring the simple lives of their pasts but still wanting some of what the world offered them. It is about family ties and love that run especially deep in Amish homes and about knowing when God has led your life to the place it is right then and opens your eyes so you can see it.

Wonderfully written, fun to read, and a deep level of living for God in the midst. Well worth the time to read.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very sweet love story 15 April 2013

I like books about the Amish and I loved both of the main characters in this book. Katie learns that sometimes you don't know what you have until it's gone and sometimes you go looking for something that is right under your nose the whole time and Karl proves the old adage "if you love something let it go and if it's meant to be it will return to you". Beautiful story and beautifully told! Excellent love story.... This one's a keeper!

This is a wonderful story of true love, & the power of faith in God. I believe it is true that with faith, if it is meant to be then what ever it is it will happen. This was a story of how sometimes we have to be patient for what we really want. I really enjoyed this Amish story of true love, faith and patience. This will be added to my list of favorites.

I have enjoyed reading Janice's book before and was not disappointed with "Out of the Blue". Although the story was a bit of a stretch, it still kept my attention and I did not want to put the book down. I would recoment it to anyone who wants a good Amish story with a happy ending.
