An album that wouldn't look out of place on a 4AD label with shades of Cocteau Twins in my opinion.
If you are a fan of Robert Smith and/or Steve Severin (or light hearted gothic pop albums about sex and death), you can't go far wrong with it.
It might not completely blow you away but it's definitely a "nice to have."

Interesting album and if you know the history of The Cure/Banshees an important musical experiment for Smith at a time when he was pretty frazzled with touring/drugs/inter-band feuds.

Undoubtley, this album gave Smith renewed energy and its worth the purchase for the fantastic 'Alphabet Street'

Robert Smith's vocal on 'Mr Alphabet Says' as darkly playful as ever, Severin's bassline echo on 'Like An Animal' against the pseudo-Siouxsie vocal. The keyboard glissando on 'Punish Me With Kisses' giving light to the fatalism of the lyric - a missed masterpiece indeed. Better than anything those mewling Creatures did!

A seriously under-rated album, started as a a studio project between Robert Smith of The Cure and Steve Severin of Siouxsie & The Banshees fame. Vocals provided by Jeanette Landray. 'Like An Animal' and 'Punish Me With Kisses' were the only singles released.
