This is an audio CD recording of one of the best TV music specials ever made. I remember watching it on TV when it was first shown and recorded and watched it over and over and over. Recorded live in front of a studio audience the atmosphere is electric and so is the playing.
To pick highlights is very difficult because its all great. But for me the rare appearance of George Harrison is an absolute treat. Eric Clapton plays some truly blistering guitar solos, that put all the other guitar players into the shade, and Carl Perkins admits as much himself. Dave Edmunds, who was the musical director for the show puts in a rare appearance as well. Other guests include Ringo Starr (Honey Don't), Rosanne Cash (Going to Jackson) and a cracking session band who keep the whole thing rocking all evening.
However it is Carl Perkins who is the star of the show and its great to hear him in prime form. If you like 50's Rock 'n' Roll and a hint of country than this is well worth getting.
