I had the good fortune to catch the Cool Crooners performing at the Lotus World Music Festival and was blown away. The sweet sounds of the band often carry painful stories of the passage from colonial Rhodesia to independent Zimbabwe. The cd is very good, and the themes of the songs very interesting.

I got to hear the Crooners at the Lotus Festival this year in Bloomington, IN. Blue sky refers to the view one of the band members had from prison. That song and the rest of the ambum is very easy to listen to. The Crooners have a similar sound to the Mahattan Transfer. They sing in their native language so I don't understand a word. It is a pretty good cd.

The cool, jazzy smoothness of the Cool Crooners disguises their very hard-hitting social and political commentary. They're great. (My four year old loves to dance to them, too.)
