Format: Hardcover
Same again with extended dateline. The format is one hundred and ten pages with three or four pieces illustrated with the explanatory text opposite. Again, not bogged down with Spode or Wedgwood and a variety of shapes, not just plates. I am in two minds about this; a flat surface shows the pattern best, but then again some patterns do benefit from being in the round. Flowers and dragons seem to suit being curled around a pot, but I want my landscapes and views in the flat.
Alphabetically by manufacturer, nearly all marked or at the least definite attributions, this is a neat little reference book.
Towards the end there is a section of "problem pieces", as well as unmarked items which is the way Coysh terminated his last book. As a coda there is a small section on what the americans term "cup plates" and a debate on their existence. By that I mean were they actually some sort of miniature or sample of an undersized plate because there was no mention in any records beore an american lady wrote aout them in 1903. I will keep reading works by Coysh until I get the answer to that.
After B.Watney on blue and white porcelain and the first book by Coysh, this is the next book that should be bought.

An excellent reference book for discovering hard to identify patterns of antique blue and white. A passion of mine. A great addition to my library.
