Style over functionality and practicality 10 May 2012

This gadget would have found itself more at home in 2006, when I assume it was designed. The single biggest drawback is that this device is not modular - it has cabled for all of those devices inside of it, waiting to be pulled out and used, but in the reality that is 2012, the only things most people are going to use are an Apple charger, a micro-USB charger, and possibly a mini-USB charger. To its small credit, the TS-01 does include a single USB port inside for a custom charging cable, but I don't see any excuse for not including multiple ports. I currently charge my cell phone on this, and run a custom cable out of it to charge my tablet. At night I store my pen, watch, wallet and glasses on it, but it already feels a bit cramped.

At the end of the day, I regret spending so much money ($150 at the time) on such a "dumb" box. I am considering a minor "hack" to this where I would put a small, powered USB hub underneath the top lid so I could run 4 other custom charge cables out of it, but that will require a second power cable to come out the back end, which is very frustrating.

If you're a modern techie looking for something to clean up the clutter of your charge-cables situation, try something else (I know I will). If you have the money to spend and just want something fashionable to charge your iPhone on at night next to your keys or glasses, etc... then I suppose it's not a bad way to go.

Great idea and design, but small 17 April 2012

I'm a techophile and my night stand is a cluttered mess of various electronics. I got this in the hopes that it'd organize the mess and it did help.

First of all, it's an aesthetically pleasing design and is a well made. It's solid and doesn't feel like it'd be easy to push around. There's a ton of connectors for pretty much any cell phone or smart phone and the major brands are supported.

Now for my gripes:
* It's a bit small. I can comfortably put in my iPhone, PS Vita, and bluetooth headset. But that's about it. Maybe I can squeeze in my keys, but I'd rather not run the risk of scratching screens. That being said, my 10.1" tablet just doesn't fit. So it sits on top of the other devices, resting on the outer lip.
* While it supports a ton of devices, I realistically only have one smart phone. So 80% of the connectors that are included are just wasted. I wish that they would have made the connectors more modular (like being attached via USB) so that I could unplug the unused connectors and plug in more USB power cords.
* Minor flaw, but the tray isn't 100% flush with the sides. There's about a 1cm gap. Not sure if this is intentional or not.

All in all it does what it advertises and it does help the clutter a little.

Great buy 27 Dec 2011

Bought this as a x-mas gift.. It looks really nice sitting on our bar and it's great for charging our different devices.. It's nice not to have things plugged in at every outlet..I would recommend to anyone wanting a trendier way to organize there devices. Works great and is big enough to hold two phones, a shuffle, car keys, and maybe a wallet.
