Released individually on CD for the first time Blue For You is a real rocking album that finds Quo in a much more ear friendly domain than previous releases but without losing any of the head down, straight forward rock charge they had become well known for.
Worth having just for the proper version of Mystery Song, which surely has one of the most intriguing intros known to Quo. But then worth having for the fact it's a damn fine slice of the Quo pie. Also the last of the early Quo sounding releases before more polished production took over.
Superb remastering gives the sound more depth and clarity without ever sounding polished. With a warm, analog feel to the sound, this album along with the rest of the Quo remasters has been restored superbly and now represents the very best Quo sound money can buy.
Worth replacing any previous version you may have.

Blue For You is, quite possibly, the definitive Status Quo album as, once again, they leave all their competitors trailing way behind them.
Quite simply, the album is right out of the top drawer. There isn't a bad track on the album - such is the standard that they were setting at the time of its release!
Two singles were eventually released ('Rain' and 'Mystery Song') but once again Quo could have picked any song here and they would all have charted well in my opinion - 'Is There A Better Way', 'Mad About The Boy', and the title track especially stand out in this department.
What is slightly different with Blue For You is that fact that, in my opinion, the bonus songs enhance the album even more, especially the single version of 'Mystery Song' and 'Wild Side Of Life', which was also released as a single.
All in all, the album is awesome enough as it was, but combining it with the bonus tracks now makes this the 'must have' Status Quo album. A classic!

It would appear im going to be at odds with the previous reviewers as this album doesnt grab me like the 3 previous releases,i've always felt Quo wobbled a bit with this release, maybe inter band relationships, substances, alcohol, who knows but i feel they took their eye of the ball with this one.

The opening track 'Is There A Better Way?' is fast and busy but lacks the quality of previous openers and 'Mad About The Boy' is twee, a sign of where Rossi would head in later years.Thankfully 'Ring Of Change' ups the ante and is one of a handful of album tracks sadly overlooked, the title track is a nice if bland bluesy work out before 'Rain',the best track on the album closed original side 1,if only it had been on 'On The Level'

Side 2 on the original opened with 2 decent tracks 'rollin home & thats a fact' the former with some harmonica from bob young and the latter with that typical Quo groove that wont let up,the average 'ease Your Mind' follows before the excellent 'Mystery Song brings the original album to a finish all in all a mixed bag.

BONUS TRACKS: Where the bonus tracks on ON THE LEVEL were superb these are average and only for completists, the edited Mystery Song, below average b'side 'You Lost The Love',non album single 'Wild Side Of Life/All Thru The Night and a Demo of 'Wild Side of Life that should have remained in the can.

This isnt a bad album, just inconsistent and not as good as what went before,it happens and it was the catalyst for changes for the next studio disc.

The last of the run of five consecutive classic studio albums during the mid-1970s, "Blue For You" boasts the best production of the lot. The band produced themselves throughout this period and did the job far better than anyone else they've used. The opening bars of Alan Lancaster's "Is There A Better Way" sound like someone breaking down your door and this intro is followed by Quo in Formula 1 mode, powerful and exhilarating. Fittingly, the two hits featured here, "Rain" and "Mystery Song", are among their most popular and adrenalin-fuelled. Energy levels are pretty high across most of the album with pauses for breath on the title track and "Ease Your Mind". The quality of the material is overall not quite as good on say, "Hello", but the manner of the band's performance makes this irrelevant. The bonuses are generous too. Buy!

Is There A Better Way and That's a Fact are the two best.

Rain is perhaps a strong rocker but the melody leaves me kind of drained like the rainy mood it suggests. I skip this one always, like most of this album.

Ring Of A Change is good, interesting and underrated. And Mystery Song is among their hits, not bad. These with the first two mentioned songs make this album what it is for me - an average to barely good album.

My least favourite of the early Frantic Four recordings. I was avid up to and including On The Level but lost interest after this. I came back to Quo later as a collector.
