I looked forward with great anticipation to receiving my copy of this book expecting great things from its content as even the reduced price tag still made it an expensive volume costing over twenty pounds.
However with no indicators in the product description that the book values would be shown in anything other than pounds sterling I was surprised and disappointed to find the guitars priced in US Dollars.
With the extreme fluctuations in exchange rates at present it is nigh impossible with this book to accurately gauge what any guitar catalogued could be worth to a UK based reader.Also there are at least a couple of important to UK enthusiasts guitar omissions I have noticed in the Hofner section namely no mention of the 1960's Hofner Artist Bass or the Hofner Galaxie 6 string(Stratocaster lookalike) which are most definately still to be found here and are very collectable.
On the plus side it is a good makers guide with just about every manufacturer imaginable covered so come on authors lets have a UK priced version for the UK market.

Although this manual is slightly out of date (published in 2007), the market hasn't changed much since then so the indicative guitar prices are still valid.
One of the real plusses I found with this book were the references about how to determine whether a guitar is in "excellent" or average (for example), conditionfor it's age. There are both visual and written pointers. Essential when you're thinking of spending fairly big bucks for something that's second hand - especially if you're buying online. This will guide you with exactly what questions you need answering and what you'll need to see before you commit.
