Christine Collister has one of the best voices in these islands, yet somehow no recognition. This album is even better than the stunning 'Blue Aconite' as it is more adventurous, and there's more new songs, as well as the great covers. John Surman's and Richard Thompson's virtuosity is used to good effect, but the highlight is a chilling cover of Tom Wait's 'Dirt in the Ground' with fabulous steel guitar from B J Cole. If you haven't experienced the effect of hearing the Collister voice, treat yourself now.

The idiot who gave this only 1 star has zero musical taste and probably listens to Classic fm, likes Abba and thinks Kylie Minogue is profound. Music that expresses sadness and regret can also be uplifting.

A wave of negativity 18 Feb 2004

..and then another wave, and then another. Poor Christine was having a bad day when she produced this album. Her voice is powerful, but the choice of songs appears to reflect a profound sense of pessimism. Music to top yourself to.
